Where's the 1/8 scale talk?
I don't see a lot on this forum about 1/8 scale onroad. I was looking at getting in to some on road racing and wanted to go with an 1/8 scale (easier to see), but I don't see a lot of conversation about it.
I wanted to get an Evolva, but 1/8 doesn't seem that popular. Am I wrong or are they just out having fun?
Thank you.

there's never been a whole lot of talk about 1/8 onroad on here, i guess most of those guys are hardcore racers who spend all week fettling their cars rather than using the internet and giving away any of their secrets
there are a few of us on here that have them but mines been sitting unused for pretty much as long as i've owned it as i never seem to ever getting round to using it! offroad seems to be the thing for me

I'd like to run 1/8th scale but its hard to get parts for 1/10th scale on-road racing here. I dont want to even think how I'll get around with a 1/8th scale...maybe if i lug a whole hobbyshops worth of partsI know that some other forums are active in 1/8th scale and some are just specified for them as well...

its not that much more expensive to get started...but usually if you race a lot it could get a bit pricey, if you can find good deals on tires and have decent/cheap parts support its only a bit more maintance than 1/10th...
Off the bat i know RCtech.net has a few car threads which are soley 1/8th. Also, most 1/8th scale cars have there own forums on some sites...I know there is a kyosho evolva one. Try google for those forums...

Well, the cars I looked at were near $500 for a roller. I know some are a bit cheaper, but I'm just not in a spot right now to make that big of an investment.

Join a different forum for 8th racers. Honestly you won't find many here. However I happen to be one. 8th onroad has been known to be more expensive than nitro onroad, however that all depends. Say the track is a huge one. Definately not gonna get away with a OS .12TZ. You'd want something like the RB ROdy, JP, NSR12 or N12, or anything along there. Basically say $300+ for an engine, $400 for a car kit, $80 for the pipe, and then add in the foams, which normally the rears will wear down a lot faster than the fronts. You're talking about $750-$800 right off the bat there. 8th onroad may cost $200 more or so depending. If you have a lot of sedan racing under your belt, then you can handle 8th onroad. Otherwise don't even dream of running one. Prices for parts arent more and not really for tires either. Shop around and you get find foams for 8th onroads at $15 per pr. They do handle better than nitro sedans, but surely won't be easier to drive box stock if it's not dialed and you never having behind the control of one.

That's the Nitro Onroad forum. What ever 8th you have (Mugen, PRP, Serpent, HPI, Kyosho, PMP) it's there.
