Let me think should I spend $700 on a car that will be replaced next month by Kyosho or get a HPI Hellfire which might turn out to be the ultimate 1/8th scale offroad bashing/racing vehicle with money to spare?

Answer is obvious.

The v-one RRR is already a top competitor. It doesn't require $700 of upgrades. I would buy me another car or truck to bash around with.

Since you said you'd plan on racing, use the $700 to get spares, an engine, etc. An engine will run you $250-$300 anyway so then you'd have $400-$450 left right there. I choose to spend my $$ wisely. A new rc isn't always needed. I own a nitro sedan and 8th onroad which I plan to race in the spring. $700 will come in handy easily.

Don't waste too much money on V one RRR...

These would not increase your driving skill, they just improve the car's handling.
