HPI RS4 3 18SS or NTC3 RTR
Little info on me< I'have had 4 Nitro cars in the past and 1 electric all have been kits exept for I RTR. Been out of R/C for about 3 yrs but racing my 350z and C32 is getting expensive.
I've narrowed my seach to these two vehicles. HPI RS4 3 18SS and Team Associated NTC3 RTR
What would you guys recommend. I dont race, just have fun in big parking lots. I already have a Futaba FM radio.
What upgrades would you recommned for each If I want to get them to 55-65mph. Can I do it with $150 in upgrades?

well if your bashing the 18ss kit is very fast out of the box and is a good car, the ntc3 is very nice just not as fast as the 18ss kit but is more of a race car. the 18ss kit will do around 60mph stock the ntc3 is in the 50s

I'm looking for the same thing. I live in Germany, and as I've been very satisfied with my Savage, was wanting to go with the HPI RS4 Evo. But over here a lot of people talk very positively about the Kyosho FW-05.. Anybody have any comments about it? Thanks..

I too cant choose which one I wanna get. I would like the package of speed and handling. I dont want to get a car that only has one of them. If I wanna go speed. I'd go with a 4tec 3.3. but I dont. Whats the major diff of the two?
Both are shaft driven
Disc brake operated
Both can come with the push button starter.
Both fast 50s, 60s.
I guess what my real question is....what car with be the best for bashing a lil in the parking lot but still can handle a race track??

i went for the rs4 3 beacuse its hpi and it was my first on road car.
i didn`t want something i couldn`t control. my LHS told me the tec4 is too fast and
don`t have the cornering to match its speed. the rs4 is a balance between both speed and
handling. i only thing i didn`t like about the rs4 is the stock tires. they wear out after one day.
no big deal anyway as i went for foams.

I love the Ntc3 for my track use because it is quite easy to tune and run but as far as having parking lot fun or around your house, the 18ss is a very good choice

I would also recommed the HPI. It handles great, but also goes together easliy. You can finish easly in a few nights. The 18SS engine starts easy and tunes well. I have two AE kits, and they always seen to be a bit of a chore to assemble.

RE: HPI RS4 3 18SS or NTC3 RTR
Not to bring back a dead thread but I think I have insight that would be helpful... I bought the HPI RS4 3 18ss and am very very happy with it. It took me 13 hours to put together and I was able to run it the next day (had to wait for glow plug starter to charge up). This was my first nitro car so for a newb to put it together that fast I'm sure someone with more experience could do it in 5 to 7 hours. Anyways, this thing is fast...and durable . I hit a couple curbs already and no major damage (flipped it at least twice). All that happened was it popped off the steering connector and misaligned my alignment. But no big deal. Anyways, I would highly recommend the RS4 3 18ss as it is loads of fun, durable, and fast as a bat out of hell.
