total nitro noob. can't start my car.
well i bought my first nitro yeserday and i can't get it started. i don't know if i'm doing something wrong so i will tell you wwhat i did.
1: put fuel in the tank
2: primer
3: put the glow plug in
4 put the ignitor on the plug
5 pulled the pull start. all that happened was fuel was lightly(very light amounts) spiting out the cooling head. so what can i do to troubleshoot
also i forgot to mention it is used.

RE: total nitro noob. can't start my car.
What car, engine, fuel?
First look up the cars starting positions for the needle valves and return it to those positions.
Second, tighten the bolts in the cooling head the hold it down.
Third, make sure when you prime that fuel actually visually goes into the carb. Sometimes one or two pulls is not enough. Learning your pull start is an art in a way. Eventually you will learn your pull start
Start with that and keep us updated
Try tunning the engine.
Remember, Remember, Remember!
Counterclockwise is rich
Clockwise is lean
The more you open the screw the richer it gets.
The more you close it the leaner it gets.
You don't want to much of either
The richer it gets the slower it gets because their will be more fuel
The leaner it gets the more powerful it gets. This doesn't mean that you can just turn the screw almost all the way in. The RPMs will peak in all engines when you keep leaning it and then they will start to dropping. Unfortunatly i have never found a good way to do this on a car except for driving it untill it starts to drive slower. It is actually easier on a plane engine because you can go to full throttle without wearing the clutch down on your car.
So what you want is just a little richer than peak RPM.
Now i am assuming the engine is broken in so make sure it was when you bought it from him.
This is the same with both adjustments but
Low speed is idle/ transition
High speed is above half throttle
Again, you reall need the instruction manuel to identify these positions

RE: total nitro noob. can't start my car.
eheh, had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday, had me absolutely baffled, then when i took the igniter out, the glow plug came out too, i think i must have loosened it with the igniter somehow. Anyway, lesson learnt
