Hi. Yes it is definetly the clutch. You adjust the carb etc. & this does not help at all. The car also does not idle properly. Remove the engine & just check if everything is in place as far as the clutch is concerned. The springs that hold the 2 shoe clutch together usually comes loose .
What type of clutch does your car use ?

Hi. Yep that's the same clutch I have which is giving me problems. Check on the HPi website for the racing clutch which is part number : A885 - check in your instruction manual . Hope this sorts out your problem. Cheers.

Hey there everybody. Pretty new to RS4. Got a smokin deal off ebay and been into nitro for relatively short time now. I hope its cool if I join up. Here is a little pic.

Main reason I am in love with this thing is it's a smaller version of my 03 WRX!! I can't seem to get it to shift though. I need to adjust the two speed screw. Any tips on that?
Also when I hit the brakes, it pulls the carb shut and chokes it out.
Upgrades that I know of:
RPM adjustable pushrods
High flow air filter
Still tryin to figure out if it is an SSmodel or not. Thanks for looking!

Hi. Cool ride. I like the rims.
Your gearing problem is hard to fix online. Didn't your car come with a instructional DVD from HPi ? The DVD explains all of your gearing problems you might have. Your braking problem could be your linkages near your carb & the one that is attached to the servo. Maybe something is loose or moving too much. There should also be a small screw on the side of the engine near the carb to adjust how much the carb stays open when you brake.
Or otherwise you can take your car to your local hobby shop for advice.

I bought mine on e-bay and no dvd. Just an instruction manual. I am beginning to think that the engine doesn't have enough compression to get it going fast enough on the 2 speed part. The throttle thing is still baffling me. My understanding is that it could be the servo. On top of my servo is the dual action deal that I think could be the culprit. I have a hard time comparing it unless I have one that works sittin in front of me. Maybe I'll get some video up or something.

Yo, I guess I'm part of the club now? I got a RS4 3 Drift. Love it so far. And the local police do too... let me explain:

So my girlfriend and I are out in a giant parking lot at like 11pm. I wanted to break my engine in at a big area with no parked cars at night. So after I broke it in I was just messing around when a cop shows up. Asked us what were doing blah blah. Well, I forgot my license at home and only had my military ID with me, so he said my girlfriend was going to have to drive home... problem... She barely knows how to drive a 5-speed manual. So he's about to leave (we're not in trouble) when another cruiser comes up with 2 cops inside. I'm packing up all my tools when the cop calls me over. He asks, "You got anymore fuel?"

I had no choice... I didn't have my drivers license on me and he gave me a break by not writing me a ticket... I had to entertain these 3 cops... They didn't believe me that these little RC cars can go about 50 mph. So I started it up and was bashing the hell out of it for their enjoyment. One of the cops even put his blueys on (guess I broke the parking lots speed limit, lol). So they were stunned and thought it was pretty cool, I even heard one of the cops say,

That's my story, and I thought you guys might find it interesting or maybe funny.

Dunno, if I see him again I'll ask. When I brought the car in to shut it down and get ready to go the cop was already pulling out. I didn't have time to ask and really I wanted them gone anyways.

@Tony DTM:
Hey guys keep in mind that a big block ruins the weight balance of the car....so it will do worse lap times...the key is always balance (power-steering ability). I always had friends wth straight line cars whot hought they could beat me on track...none of them ever managed to...and snce I modified the .18ss engine I had better acceleration too...try for once to see the other side of the coin...GRIP over TOP SPEED,

Yeah I was wondering if that .21 was a bit much. Funny thing is that I put my Traxxas 3.3 on there for kicks and giggles and I think I'll be sticking w/ that. It hauls some major ACE!!! Minor modifications too... I'll throw up some pics when I can.

I swear I already posted these pictures... but maybe it was in a different post. Anyways, here's my RS4 Drift. I painted a BMW M3 GT body with German flag colors (2nd shell I ever painted, and with spray cans not spray guns, so the edges aren't razor sharp). Anyways, here it is.

Hey guys I need to replace my crankshaft on my 18SS engine, the front piece where the pilot nut fits on is stripped. The nut that holds the flywheel in place. Is this a major job to do & how do you take the inner engine bearing out ?
Special tools ?

Here's a shot of my RS4. It started life as an NRS4 RTR, I've had it for ten years.
Just need a few ods and ends to complete the re-build.
Does this mean I'm in?

I have one of these but I can't post pics lol. I can't get it to start either, it always floods out before it starts. It started once and was idled really high but wouldn't pull at all *didn't try with remote, but the throttle should have made it pull some on the car, right?*.

Here is my finished NRS4 2. It has a Dynamite .12, and pipe. Radio is my trusty Futaba 3PDF.
I had the Eclipse body laying around.
