its not a good idea, because front tires are a lot thinner, and youll get a lot less traction, and some biting in turning.

Well of course you can but rear end almost always needs more traction than the front. Try same size but softer comound at the rear. It may work.

Just use 30mm in rear and 26mm in front. They fit on the 4tec and diameter is the same and they work well. If the size isn't specified on the site, fronts are almost always 26 mm and rears are 30mm, so just order a set of fronts and a set of rears and your good to go.

Shore is a hardness scale that is measured with a durometer. Basically, it is a measurement of how well a material resists permanent indentation or deformity.

I just bought a pair of hpi 35mm slicks for my 4-tec. Surprisingly...they fit.

On the same surface yes but on some surfaces higher shores give you more grip. Its an art not a science..

Yep, 40's in front and 45's in back. When it's like that and pretty clean I like sorex belted slicks. Just have to watch out for traction rolling. But I still like foams because of the consistent traction. If you find that your foams are not gripping as well as you think they should, even with good sticky pavement, try some traction compound as well. There are many home recipes out there that are super cheap, but I use "jack the gripper" odorless compound. Just brush it on and let it soak in good, then before running wipe them off good.
