i would suggest making it electric, brushless and lipo. Clean fast and dependable.

dont turn it brushless, that doesnt impress anyone. Get a .21 engine, something good like the C6 from RB racing, or a picco, and get the tallest gearing, and thats about it. I dont know much about them, but thats what most miami guys do anyways.

A .21 will make it powerfull but you need to alter the drive train. That looks a bit akward to me.

Belt drives get less efficient as you increase speed. O shaft drive is better. I'm with a Ferrarri. Fit a .21 that revs to the moon and fit the tallest gearing you can find. You might make 80

Cheers

bancedog, speed is not gonna come cheap at all. You would need custom motor mounts to mount a $500+ .21 engine, another $100 for a tuned pipe/header
and you are gonna need to find someone to make you custom gears. By the looks of it you're also gonna need some servos and a decent radio.

Hey,
I'm in the same boat. Though I'm building an RS4-3. Basically .21, tall gears and a couple bucks. Don't let anyone distract you or tell you it can't be done cause it has. I'm about to get all the parts needed. It might not be the fastest car but could be the fastest RS4-3 out there when done. That is the goal.

Absolutely wrong, wrong, wrong, belt is the only way to go, the shaft Rs-4 is slower, all of us down here run the belt driven one, we totally scrap the shaft one. just to show you how much an rs-4 belt driven car means to us. Down here, that car is worth 1000 dollars all done up. Down here most belt driven racers are in the 95-100 mph range, with a few exceptions, 2 weeks ago, chamo's record was broken by another racer that did 109, so thats now the record. Witnessed by all but was not able to capture on video. I'm hoping, he does it again so I can capture. Again, this is the opinion of many down here...My racer is just like that one in the pic, I spent 1400 dollars to build it. here are the pics. The only thing that can touch this is really fast set-up electric, so far.......

i am not trying to go to crazy. i just want a car that can do 80 consistently without to much modding. Question is the wolfpack conversion still available for this car? and if it is what will i need to make it work?

Naw bro chamos hobby shop really wasnt his, it was actually owned by the other guy adrian but since everyone whent becuase of chamo they named it chamo's hobby shop

anyways about shaft drive bein better, NO WAY weve tryed it and its failed misrably, the contact point of the pinion to ring gear in the diff is was kills you, belt is the way to go BUT there is already tricks to the trade, no one sayed out belt where stock..........there modded nice and smooth and will roll 100 times smoother than any serpent, kyosho, mugen ect thats a real nice racer 2 u got it funny how many of these cars are all around miami belive it or not yesturday i woke up with the intestions of building another racer 2 even tho i swore i would never build another one, it crazy with all the cars i have i always find my self buying another one of these racers 2's and setting it up, i picked mine up for 100 dollars rolling chassis with a bunch of aluminum parts yestruday afternoon from a really good friend of mine so far ive already dropped in my own motor mount, motor, header, pipe, servos and a few other things but i still need a few more things to get it running like wheels and a bumper............and ofcrouse liek always i geared it to the moon check it out

im just going to test this motor out but i dout this motor will hit 100 MPH i picked the motor up about 3 months ago for 25 dollars and sayed to hell with it i as might as well use it since its bein sitting in a closet for a while i already have a back up motor that i know will be a 100+ MPH motor ill post more pics when im done building the car

if your head is really into geting 80MPH its pretty easy u can get about 85MPH with a OS 18TZ and run it all day long with no problems weve already seen it done, ud just need the motor and OS pipe and ull get a nice 80 MPH with about 240 bucks...........but if u wanna go all out and be in the 100 MPH club your going to need the wolf pack motor mounts (85 bucks) a nice 21 motor (500-700) plus moddeing, some gearing and some big ol custom wheels if u swing threw FIU on wensday night we can help you put your car together if anything PM me

PS what local shop did you use to go to?? did u ever vist micro motor sports??? i use to work there till about 2 months ago maybe ive seen you around

I found out that you can do 80 with that car without spending 500 bucks on a motor or even running a 21. We built one recently thats very capable or 80 with an 18tz. You just have to figure out how much you want to spend on the project. I know the car can definetly get to where you want it to go because I my self have built atleast 6 for my self and know of probably another 20 similar ones that are running past 80.

Brushless is definetly not the way to go because there is no room for the battery. I did build an electric supernitro which is the same layout but the chassis is longer. Thats how I managed to fit the battery on the side but the racer definetly doesnt have the room for it.

Just figure out how much you're willing on spending and take it from there.

I thought that NTC3 looked familiar, that was mine you bought a long time ago when i still had my ford exploder!, if i was you id rip that 18TZ out and drop it in the racer 2, OR buy another 18TZ like i tolded you tho make sure u get the matching OS pipe its going to give you the best performance for that motor that 18TZ is a badass motor my homeboy that did 109MPH dropped that TZ motor in a racer for the hell out it and after serouse engine cutting pulled a nice 91MPH out of it.

Rapist: check your PM

Under load and with the right pipe I have had mine to 39,000. My TZ .18 has been modified by Murnan so will rev to 39,000 also.

Cheers

Yeah I tried a marine pipe but it was too long. I'm getting a smaller one. For acceleration I found the car tuned pipes are better but for small powerbands and high power the marine one is better

Hey Miamiz

I never went to that shop till recently. The owner told me he bought it out a couple months ago. I would normally go to Crown. Though I have been out of the game a awhile. You guys inspired me to build a quick car. I had two RS4-3 around...so I said 'why not'. I have a Nova 21-5 plus and a Picco .21 to play with. I'll be out next week, and hopefully I'll pass by FIU two weeks from now. I know it might not hit a hundred or be the quickest car but I'm shooting for quickest RS4-3 Nitro. Thats the intention. I could use your help. BTW. My next project will be a NTC4 or 5. Whats the top out there?
