Front one way diff
Are these worthwhile in a basher?
I heard for track, to even have a chance at winning you need a one way in the front
And how much does it improve handling over geared diff with grease for LSD action?

RE: Front one way diff
It depends...I prefer one way diff at tracks with wiide corners. For tight corners I prefer blocked front diff to prevent oversteer.

RE: Front one way diff
I thought the one way prevents oversteer?
ie, has good turn in as the wheels roll freely into a corner, and doesn't oversteer as the front locks on acceleration?
I expected this to be better at tight tracks (minus the no braking thing)

RE: Front one way diff
I know... it would understeer exiting the corner + it wouldn't turn in very well though
I remember I had a 1.5 way LSD on my 1:1 car, so on power it was fully locked
Was a ***** to drive at times

RE: Front one way diff
I use locked front end because i like the extra braking. i used to run a front way but ever since i switched to locked front end my lap times went down a considreble amount, but it all depends on track conditions and the size of the track, i drive on a track that is fast yet, has lots of tight corners in the infield so the extra braking effect from the locked front end makes a world diffrence

I would tell you yes over a one way diff becuase your car woukd brake better over all but be fore you lock your front end completely try some realy thick silcone oil to see if you like the way it handles.

RE: Front one way diff
Well I will end up putting something like 100K grease in the front
I am thinking what to do in the rear. Leave it open? Or put grease too?

RE: Front one way diff
Well I mean practicly no diff! Either you block the front differential so that the wheels don't move separately or you use a "one-piece" axel. I apologise for my terrible english bro!

When you turning, but not so much. Is straights you will have no issues about decreased speed. In corners, you want to slow down anyway so... I repeat, the desceleration will be minimal for you

RE: Front one way diff
no not really because the one way only locks "one way" and has a free diff affect when your on the brakes or deccelrating, thus only you'll only have rear brakes but locking the front youll have a locked affect both ways

RE: Front one way diff
You fill the front and/or rear diffs with different weights to get different LSD action
So, if you want the front tighter, you put a heavier grease into it
If you want an open diff (ie, free diff) then you just grease it a tiny bit for anti wear & tear
