Default Anyone have experience with tigerdrive starting systems?

I am considering putting one of these on my car as I have the actual starter, and it seems much more convenient than yanking a pull start

So, what do people thing of these, are they reliable, worth it, work well etc?

Check and see if they offer one for your engine, I'm using one on a P3-28 and it's great.

Pretty cheap too....I think mine was $16.00US

Yeah they do offer one for my engine, it's $20USD at tower

What do you use to actually crank it? Ever feel that it doesn't have enough power to crank?

The yellow thing in the background is a 14v dewalt cordless screw gun. One charge...about 1hr, will start the tightest motor hundred of times.

they work pretty good...but if you manage to flood the engine, the Tiger drive will break, so be careful

So they are quite fragile?

Bill9, did you set it up so that it comes from the side did you?

With a powerful screw gun and a hydrolocked motor, I think it would be better if the tiger drive breaks, rather than your con rod. I've had no problems with mine to date. Most.... (some) of the tiger drives can are offered with either vertical or horizonal mounting capibilitys. I think it's noted on the application chart....and yes, mine is horizonal.

hmmm,
I think I will buy an 18TZ and I don't know if it'll have a large enough opening to go from the side
And definately wont work from the top

they can be fragile, but like bill said, better to break the starter and not your con rod

Is it... I think conrods are cheaper? Mine was $13 to replace
Either way I sort of compared it to a pullstart where you don't break either as you feel the engine flooded and don't pull
