What nitro on road platforms are good for over 85 mph with a single modded motor? I know more $$$ is involved but the basic platform.

I think the Schumacher Fusion .28 is supposed to do something like 80mph out of the box, blazingly fast for these small cars.

Best EASIEST choice is the HPI RS4 racer 2 belt drive with WOLFPACK radical .21 size motor mounts and ur choice of 21 size motor

In the USA Worlds Fastest Car Challenge the Schumacher .28 got beat by a NitroTC-3 with a modified .12 in it . TC-3 just barely beat it but a win is a win. Just does not seem possible the TC-3 should not have been able to keep up with the .28 put the motor was modified by ABMods and he must have worked some Voodoo on that .12 or something because it was quick. One major short coming of this design is the way the drivetrain is layed out with a belt that is too long and too wide looping and snaking around tensoners. The tranny is non adjustable and the clutch is a weak design for a big block motor , the ball bearing are of a poor quality. If you have a Fusion and you want to improve its performance get a Wolfpack conversion kit . The conversion kit addresses some of the stock kits short comings it changes the chassis to a bumpstart chassis, improved flywheel , adapters for 1/8 scale rubber and thicker chassis plate.

high speed onroad nitro cars are a touchy subject. The Fusion is fast but I've yet to see one do 80+ as claimed on the box. Most of the cars and truck that hit the market say a certain speed but Ive actually never seen them do that. When the fusion came out way back when, they claimed 80 with the upgraded clutchbell and the most I seen them do with it was 67. If you were looking for a car that can do 65, that would be a lot easier.

Like Finest said, IMO, the easiest car to build to go fast is the HPI Racer2. With a simple motor and some gearing, the slowest one of these cars I'd seen with a 21 was about 88. There was actually one with a TZ18 that was in the high 80s and I built one with a Rossi12 that was in the low 80s. I'd say, go with a car that your LHS can provide you parts for so that youre not stuck for weeks when you break something on it.

Oh, By the way, since the Racers were so hard to get, I'd started looking for possible replacements. The car I tried was the OFNA GPX4. I turned it into a single speed with a TZ18 and it was also in the mid 80s. A little creativity can take you a long way.

At The Fastest Car Challenge the Nitro TC-3 with the modded .12 did 79mph . Too bad none of you guys made it down.

Where hopeing the challange will come to MIAMI one day since i have no dout we'd take a good amount of records AND KEEP them within our city, only class that would have me sweating bullets is 1/10 scale open class since nic case's 160 something MPH car is just to dam scary and HARD ASS HELL to top

Not really, i did take it upon my self to do it a while back but the problem was at the time i was working with a hobby shop and THREW the hobby shop we where going to set something up to help promote it and put the name of the shop on the map along with the owner and 2 other guys that where working there, problem was that after talking with everyone involved, the shop came into a HORRIBLE 3 months while at the same time the owner of that shop has serouse personal problems and was FORCED to the sell the shop quickly, so i did not stick around for the new OWNER neither did anyone else since his way of doing things did not click with me what so ever so everything pretty much stayed at that


Id also need to get my hands on a speed trap, but ive asked around and cant find one localy, IF i can pull off and event trust me ill let u know!!! Ziggy check ur PM

mazpr, what kind of car do you have? Engine is all based on the car you have and what you can afford. I have a couple of engines that are in the 800 price range each but right now my fastest car has 2 motors that are valued at a little under 800 total. Right now as you put it, the best of the best fastest car in the world is Nic Case's car which is not nitro. It did a little over 160. The fastest nitro car is hard to say. We have a few down here that are in the 100 to 108 range but thats ofcourse, not official. (YET) Everytime we see a challenge, they turn out to be just under 100 so like I said, its hard to say until we're ready to organize our own challenge.

Finest, I think the guys from A&E should get with us at CT and get something going. Im sure the boss here will not have a problem getting something together. If you want, I'll talk to him and atleast put a bug in his ear. As you know, We dont have a such thing as bad weather, so anytime of the year is a good year. (Sorry about that you northern guys)
