ORIGINAL: Brent Davis

I can say this, YES the smaller .12's and .15's can get you down the track because they don't make the torque that a .21 does but if you can get a .21 to hook up, watch out is all I can say. My CD3 using the .21 Xenon yesterday could not even get down the track because it was overpowering the track. I put brand new cut Kawaharas on the car too and it just would not stay hooked up.
Hey Brent the last time I checked the softest shore the Kawaharas come in is 35 you need a rear tire for that CD-3 that comes in a 30 shore. Thats why I mount and true my own tires so I can get the shore I need. All you need is a tire truer and foam donuts and glue to mount.

I did have the 35 shore but I "think" I know what the problem is now that the car was having a hard time hooking and will make that change at our next test-n-tune session. those tires were brand new outta the box after being trued and slapped on the car with some sticky dressing but I now know it was not enough to keep it hooked up. The last time I was at the track, the car ran straight down broadway but those tires were extremely sticky whereas these others weren't.

Where do you buy your own foam from? I might look into that for later on.

Calandra Racing Concepts. All they have right now in foams is some super soft 27 shore donuts. Link http://www.teamcrc.com

Is that a secret formula you used for your traction compound??? Must be really super sticky. Sounds like that traxxas motor is putting out mega horsepower. Good luck with your testing.

No secret at all. Just use kofords traction compound which is a must but I didn't have any on those tires but the CRC belt dressing that is also sticky but not sticky enough.

Yeah the 2.5R is showing promise but more seat time with it, I plan to get 'er on down the road.

well the 2.5R ran a best of 2.23@55 MPH which was great for a street car using a bone stock Traxxas steel crank. The aluminum crank ran a best of 2.41@58 MPH. What I found with the aluminum crank is that the bottom end is alot softer on the hit but the RPM's are off the hook hence it making 3 more MPH over the stock steel crank.

I got my nitro Pro-Mod vette to run 1.85@72 MPH with a brand new Xenon Alpha AFTER I lost control of the car in the first round of qualifying which threw the battery out and caused the engine to run WOT and busted the piston on the Xenon "R" which is my absolute favorite engine bar-none. I was pissed to say the least but with my fairly broken in Alpha, that put me number 4 qualifier out of a 12 car field. The crash caused me to use a new body at the track which is a red '05 vette. The Xenon "R" is repairable and RBmods will have it freshened up this week with a new rod, piston/sleeve.

yeah man the Traxxas 2.5R is a pretty good little engine and the aluminum crank will without a doubt turn the RPM's up for top end speed for sure. I mean it averaged 3 more MPH for every pass over the steel crank. More is to come from this engine as we have some pistons and stuff up next to test. I also have a brand new RB V-15 too

Yeah I wanna see this CEN car too.

We have a new 1/10th scale class out here and it is totally run what you brung and hope you brung enough. My CD3 that was using the Xenon "R" will get that engine back and left alone and compete in that class. I will have to run up against LiPos and all that but I'll be ready for whatever.

I hope you smoke the hell outta those lipos!! I have been busy trying to perfect a lightweight 3 speed tranny with the right ratios.

If by chance Ziggy is saying "no chance" for a nitro against a LiPo car, lol You should see them trying to get down the track whereas the nitros make it EVERYTIME. Thos LiPO cars make waaaayyy too much power on the hit.

Keep me posted nitrohead on the 3-speed and keep watch on this 90+MPH CEN car too.

Will do Brent My LRP .28 died in my Nitro TC-3 so I put a Nova Rossi .28 in it and I have had to do a lot suspension re adjustments. I had to put on wider tires to try get more traction, change shock oil ( lighter ) , lighter springs , readjust droop etc , etc trying to get it to hook up!! If I do get it to hook up it should be a good parking lot racer.

I mean electric against Nitro

Yes a high power Nitro against a low power Lipo but if you have open rules then there is much more power in a lipo setup than a nitro. The HP delivered is the same all through the rev range so you stand no chance

When is the last time you saw a nitro do 1.2 seconds for 132 ft and over 100mph TV

Cheers

LMAO. Ziggy YOU need to be here at these drag races and see all these nasty, super fast, can't be beat, it won't happen, no chance electrics run then. THEY "ALL" slip and slide, flip over backwards, hit the walls, you name it while the nitro cars take the wins everytime. SURE, I am not arguing with you at all on the performance and I aint a fool to know that the electrics make more power PERIOD but all that power means jack ***** when you can't put it down properly and get down the track.

Now, the 1.2 passes out of TOP FUEL cars is great and you aren't the only one that knows that. As interested as I am in drag racing only, I know alot of who runs what, when, where and how. There's sooooooo many more variables that go into what that 1.2 TOP FUEL dragster from Australia runs that it aint funny. Oh, BTW the quickest for a Nitro TOP FUEL so far that I know of is 1.33@103 MPH so that guy aint far off from a 1.2 pass IF he hasn't done it already

I will see some of these bad azz electrics this weekend as I just got the official invite for this race this Saturday. I am ready for whatever and "IF" I get beat then so be it and that would be expected.........right? But if I win, then what........Oh, I guess that shouldn't happen though.

Here's a vid of what the electrics do all day at our tracks to the point where they run into you....lol.

Oh, I've got more vids showing them leaving and of course crashing unlike this pass here.

Here's a CAD drawing of the new heads being made. Rick of RBmods has sent me one and it has tested VERY well picking up 2 MPH with a little more fuel added on average. The engine sounds crispier and throttle response increased even greater. I will have a few heads in a bit to possibly sell if there's any interest.

Look at this guys boat engine Pro-Mod using a cog driven supercharger.

Oh god someone hand me a clean set of short!! LOL

Ive always wanted to see a super charger WORKING on a RC car, ive always known that RB inovations was crap for 2 reasons 1) it doenst work on 2strokes since there is no valves to buid up pressure and 2) that crappy rubber band attached to the flywheels is a HORRIBLE DESINE.

This tooth belt desine on a 4stroke motor must be a killer combo!!!

BTW i offically retire from boats, BACK TO CARS FOR ME!
