k20_94_dc, you will definitely be there with acceleration. What you should do is since you are running 19tx23t red pinions, you should change the spurs to 37t&41t. That will work fine if you get the super chassis because the engine mount holes are a little bigger. If you don't get the super chassis you will have to settle down for 39t&43t spur because of the smaller mount holes. You can also dremel the holes out if you want to fit the 37t spur on the stock chassis. That will definitely do the trick. You should be able to hit between 60-70 mph. You will have fun running your friend. If that does not work, the next step is definitely modding the engine. If you get the engine modded, we can put on 25t pinion from the Losi LST. That will definitely guarantee upper 60s or lower 70s. There are a lot of ways to make your car faster than your friend. Let me know how it turns out.

k20_94_dc, that's a nice ride you have. I was expecting you to have an ITR from HPI not a BMW. I am a JDM enthusiasts, I used to fix up eks. Anyways, nice ride. Also, keep us posted on how your car compares to your buddy.
I have an RX7 body painted chameleon at the moment, I am trying to give it up for $15, brand new, never ran. If anybody lives in Southern California, give me a shoutout (pictured below). The body isn't wide enough for my big block engine. I paid $20 plus paint but realize can't run it with my modifications on my car. In the next month or so, I will get a .21 onroad engine for my RS4. I will keep u guys posted on it.

k20_94_dc, nice ride. One thing you have to keep in mind is that as far as rims are concern, if the rim isn't spoon, don't get it in black. I don't know about Tennessee but in California, we (JDM Enthusiasts) laugh at people who buy black rims for their Hondas&Acuras if it's not spoon. Not to offend you nor anybody. Also, it seems like you need camber kit, the front wheels are popping in. Nice ride though. Keep us posted.

k20_94_dc, with a green car, you should aim for white, bronze, or gold wheels. They are the best combo that I've see so far.
sebhitman, the best gearing you should get for an .18tz is 19t red pinion (gear 1) & 23t red pinion (gear 2). Spur gears are as follows: 37t x 41t. That will be the perfect combo. However you will have to dremel out the stock chassis engine mount holes. The mount holes are not big enough to allow the 37t spur to contact the 23t pinion. Otherwise, if you don't want to dremel anything, get the 39tx43t spur combo. However, if you get the super chassis, you do not have to dremel anything for the 37t spur.

There is also a part that has to be removed from the spur gear chassing, its the "C" looking part. That alows your gears to sit lower for your tranny to reach it

Car-Boy, I know exactly what you mean. It's a plastic piece that mounts under the transmission casing. It looks like a square C. Good thinking.

Question for you guys that have swapped motors. If I switch to a motor with a SG shaft(seems to be more common) what else do I need to change other than clutch?

mkoresh12, I believe all sg shaft engines come with slide carb (correct me if I'm wrong, that is what I have seen from my experience). You will have to purchase an ofna slide carb linkage kit or some other slide carb linkage kit. You will also have to buy a clutch nut (substitute for pilot shaft). Everything else should be the same. When I mounted my OS .18tz engine SG shaft version, the engine seemed to push my gears forward and the pinion gears would not connect properly with my transmission. I ended up going single speed. Not sure if it is the same for all sg shaft engines. You should contact nitrohouse.com and get an adjustable engine mount for the ofna cd3 or ld3. It will allow you to drop in almost any engine and move the engine forward and backward. That should be about it.

I have a slide carb on the car now(Fantom FR15) but it also had a standard threaded shaft instead of a SG shaft. I guess my confusion on the clutch is that the current clutch nut has a shaft and a slot on the nut for the shoe springs. Obviously the SG shaft takes care of the shaft portion. Do you need a specific clutch nut for the RS4?. I've looked up a couple and they say for a certain model, found nothing on the RS4.

mkoresh12, a clutch nut is basically universal. It is like clutch shoes (works with both 1/8 and 1/10). I use one that I got from my Sportwerks .26 engine. You can try getting one from the Associated TC3 to be safe.
Fantom FR15 is an awesome engine. I have a Fantom FR18. The engine is discontinued so I just have it on display. I really wanted to run my FR18 because many people have smoked .18tz's with it. However, you won't be able to find it anymore so I just have it on display. Post some pics of your ride when you get it set up.

Here is a couple pics of the RS4 with the Fantom motor. The engine runs great, very fast. I was beating some guys on the straights that had Sirios and O.S. Don't know what versions they had but the straights I was getting them. They killed me in the corners, partly cause they had better cars (NT1) and mostly because they are better drivers. Having overheating issues with the Fantom tho. It seems to be leaking from the front of the case. Need to replace the bearing I'm thinking but I've never broken down a Nitro engine before.

mkoresh12, that's pretty nice. I'm waiting for a machine shop to customize an exhaust for me. I'm trying to remake the 1/8 pipe so that it will sit low on my rs4 with a big block engine. I'm trying to get a Ninja .21 R01A for it as well. Hopefully it will fly. As soon as I do, I will post some pics.
