I just ordered an RS4 Evo 3 RTR, and I am wondering about hop-ups or anything that needs to be replaced out of the box? I do not plan on racing, just some parking lot and neighborhood street bashing. I am a noob to the on road thing, I am more of an off-road guy.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on any hop-ups or replacements I should do to the car before I start running it? Every RTR has their weak points, so I like getting them out of the way before they haunt me.

Thanks for the help and advice!

sway bars and threaded shocks. to make it look pretty you can get the graphite towers and upperdeck (just make sure with the upperdeck that you get a 5cell flat)

i tried to look on HPIs site but for some reason the PDF files isnt loading up for me, maybe you can check it out

heres the link, click the instructions tab then click on the nitro engine tuning and just scroll down and find your engine and it should tell you the carb needle settings

Hi There,

I'm in the process of assembling my recently aquired ford 18ss kit and have the folowing issue:

The kit comes with an update sheet for the page 12 of the manual regarding the assembly of differential. Its state that the drive cup 86332 should be replace with the drive cups 86312 (mt2 heavy duty I think). The thing is that these drive cups are now where to be gound in any of the gazillion plastic bags that come with the kit.

Did anybody else fall on a kit with that update sheet?

Is it ok to assemble the kit using the origal plan i.e. ignore the update sheet?

Thank to all posters. Great forum!!

you can use the normal drive cups but Id replace w/ the heavy duty eventually because its a .18 engine.....just keep an eye on the cups to make sure they dont open up some or break or warp and bend

youll be fine for the time being though

Hi Again,

That is great news!! I e-mailed HPI support for this and they seem to be wanting to send me the missing part but since I'm in eastern canada, that could take a while. So, i'll just keep on rocking wiht the standard cup.

I just cant wait to leave my workolace and continue the montage of my 18ss kit.

I was wondering why there is less and less kit and more and more RTR. Why are people losing the fun of building a complexe machine and make it work!!

Basically, now adays, if you just want to bash around you have like 2 choices:

HPI nitre rs4 18ss
or
Tamiya mk2 TGR10

Could be that due to lowered manufacturing cost in china, manufacturer get a fully assembled kit for the same price as an unassembled kit or people are just to lazy?

i think some people just like to take the car out of the box and run it

NOT ME

I just completely took apart my entire car to clean and inspect

PLUS w/ the SS kit you see how the parts work together because you build it....so if there is ever a problem you will most likely be able to figure it out due to YOU building it

plus who wants HPI to build it, I'll do it myself that way I know its done right, NOT to say HPI builds them wrong

anyway to each his/her own I guess

HAVE FUN W/ YOUR KIT!!!! take is slow and dont get....[:@]

Im pretty sure you can find that revo online..try towerhobbies, not really sure, PLUS you can always look on Ebay they have better prices than most hobby stores

as far as better suspension Im not really sure, I dont have either one so I couldnt say....I'd assume the Revo only because its newer and supposed to be far better than the tmaxx and the tmaxx IS a beast!!

im not really planning on buying any more rc stuff now...I have the old belt drive rs4 and 2 rs4 3 (.12 and .21) and 1 tmaxx so I got enough for now

I'd like to get that savage though and put the truckzilla conversion kit on it!!! then it would REALLY be a monster truck

anway just though I'd drop you a line to see what you decided......[8D]

hpi's super size wheels fit and then get some rally car tires you should get like an inch of the ground and put something like plastic under the bottom of the frame to keep it clean. I don't know about the shocks though maybe some new towers all together. if you coould some wider a arms you would be set! let me know how it goes. I know you are not the first one to think of this and If a guy can change a t-maxx frome nitro to gas (maxx-gasser) an offroad rs4 should be no problem. Me personnally I bought a revo

Hi There,

I was wondering why the gaz fuel line goes so close to the clutch bell gears. This is to me an extremely bad design. I inspected my gaz line after a few run and it is already partially eaten by the gears. Anybody found a way to circumvent this flaw. Otherwise still a great car!! Boy, this thing is fast !

Ciao

yeah the same thing happened to me, if you mess around w/ the fuel line enough you will find a way to mount, you can zip tie it to the plastic handle

OR

do what i did and just buy a braided fuel line PROBLEM SOLVED

Ola,

I have indeed found a new mounting parcour for the gaz line and it should be ok now!! Can't wait to go try it after work.
