Hello everyone. It's been a very long time that I've been here. To me summer is over so now I have the nitro fever. I ran my RS4 3 this past Friday and its running incredible.

Last time I was here I mentioned I dropped the O.S. 18 CV-RX and the RS4 3 went from quick to fast.

Well,[>:] you know what happens when you go fast ..... you end up wanting to go faster. So I swapped the O.S. 18 CV-RX motor out and dropped an O.S. 18 TM Revo motor. Holy sh*t. The car is insanely stupid ridiculous amazingly FAST!!!! I love it.

For you guys that think the O.S. 18 CV-RX is fast in a RS4 3. Well. It's nothing when compared to the O.S. 18 TM - I'm just throwing this info out there.

What about the OS.18TZ turbo? Anybody running one of these? Also I need a refresh on what style crank drops in the Rs4-3.

Hi... does any one seal the access to the 2 gear tranny (from below the chassis and behind the fuel tank)? I'm stuck running my RS4 on dirty parking lots and I get rocks stuck in the gears. So, I installed some Lexan shields below the chassis and behind he fuel tank.
The big stuff stays out but I find that the finer particles stay in the tranny area and is pitting my gears.
Any ideas?

O.S. 18tz should run in a RS4 3. I chose not to cuz I didn't want to spend the money nor carry a starter box.

Lol. whats the point in pics? it looks basicly the same as any other os .18. point is, yes it will fit. but it will destroy your gearbox and drive train....as for the tyres well forget about them lasting...

the pics are not the same, the 18TM is a rear exhaust.

By the way, I've not had my gearbox screw up and in regards to tires - you need the right tires on it so you don't shred them like crazy and it all depends on your driving style as well which will determine whether you shred or don't shred the tires like crazy

HAs anybody tried using the threaded pinions from the R40 on the Rs4-3? I was just looking through Tower and they look identical and even have the same thickness. I'm just looking for some more gearing options for torque and one for high speed.

no they won't, well not all of them. The r40 centax clutchbell is a step style bell where the second gear part of the bell is larger then the first gear section. Also you can't just put 2 random pinions on there, there is a rule so that you can get proper gear mesh. If you want i can try and explain it

I know all about the gear mesh rules. I went threw tons of spurs learning this a few years ago. You need to have the same tooth gap in the pinions as well as the spurs with no more than a 4 tooth gap between the two. I got away with a 6 tooth gap for a while but it was harder on the 2speed and sometimes when it hit second it would just chew the teeth right off. What about the first gear pinions from the R40? I can see the second gears are 16mm wide but the first gear pinions are the same width as the Rs4-3 gears.

I have a OS .12 CV-R slide carb that I am going to use in my drifter. What rotostart can I put on it???? Will HPI or OFNA work for it??

Some new pics of my RS4 RTR3 , I did not paint the body , I bought it on Ebay for 99 cents painted as shown .



Put on some alloy c hubs and axel carriers on the front and alloy axel carriers on the rear .

thanks, i love my RSX body, though it may not be much of a "racing" paintjob, i like simplicity, and it was my first body, next time i might try 3 colors, liquid mask, and some cool design, but until the RSX body poops out on me, im using it

and as for the spring going around the shock tower, when i was setting my car up for the race, i wanted to be as safe as possible so i put an old throttle return spring on it, it had been stretched out so i had to figure out a way to let it pull back hard enough without shredding my servo gears, so i did this

i couldnt find a way to fashion it to pull directly on the slide on the carb itself without hitting the flywheel, so i ran it on the brake linkage which pulls back the throttle if the battery is cut off (or broken like my last crash), it also provides a little bit of "fault" braking power

i got alot of comments from people about my modded OS, i had acceleration fairly close tot he guy running the mugen MRX4 with a .28, he said i had one of the fastest 1/10th's he had seen, and i also have poweredbynitross sending me his nearly new OS 18cv-rx to modifiy

Nice , good thinking on the spring .

I am going through rubber tires fast , I get about 10 runs before they are toast . Next set I get I want to try foam tires , what "shore" rating will give me the best wear while keeping at least the same grip as rubber ? I am not racing so maximum traction is not my main concern , just dont want to be buying tires every week .

its a triangular oval if that makes sense, it was pretty nice but its realyl far away and actually a go kart track, dont think they would let me run on it any other time

doa nyone of you guys seriously race your rs4 (im not talking pro or anything like that but more then like a few times a year). Im gonna start doing that becuase there are about 2 guys at my track who have worked on the set-up for there rs4's until its basically perfect and although its a challenge with some hop-ups they can keep up with some ofthe guys who have the 710's and 720's but they both switched to 720's when they came out, but it shows that it is possible to race well with an rs4. These are the hop-ups im gonna buy:

Sway Bar set
front graphite shock tower
rear graphite shock tower
graphite upper deck
teflon piston set
firm shock bladders
fiberglass disk brake

All this tuff adds up to less then 4100 so i think its a preatty good deal. ill post pics once i order these parts.
