I have inherited a 4tec with some wear. I am going through the car to see what all is wrong. Basically I found a hole in the gas tank and the EZ start electric motor wires were on backwards causing the one way to spin the wrong way and not grab the shaft to spin the motor to start it. I replaced the gas tank with the one off my rustler ( direct replacement). I have been able to get the car started and it starts good. But it idles high I have set the idle screw 1 3/4 turns out and the high speed is 2.5 turns out as the manual says. I cant get the carb opening to go any further closed but its open more than I think it should be. I have adjusted the "throttle stop screw" it seems to open and close the carb more ,maybe I dont understand fully its job but it seems the carb is open a little too much at rest and this could cause the problem. Any help would be appreciated how can Iget it to idle lower and if the answer is to close the carb how can I close the carb more. Thanks again.
