I had borrowed my friend starter and it has 2 motors in it. Should I of gotten a 2 motor starter box?

Having the dual motor box does help but sometimes you still have to spin the fly wheel back to get some momentum going for it to turn over

And I've done that too.

It's a 720 or 750 motor. I noticed that my battery sucks. So I plugged it to my car battery and it didn't work Was not able to turn the motor

Here are a couple pics of the new project. This one has one of the strongest 3.3's I have ever done. It has the full works 8mm carb, both ceramics, and a double bushed connecting rod to handle the rpm's from the mod. There is another carbon fibre super nitro all ready for a motor and I also have 3 brand new cd3 pro's that just need a motor as well. I got motors just torn on what to put in each car. There is 2 8 port hypers, a losi mach 427, a jp .21, a idm picco .21 and I have enough parts to build a army of new 3.3's. This one just needs the linkages hooked up and holes drilled and tapped for the motor mounts.

Love that chassis man! must not weigh anything lol.
what pipe is that you're running? I like that's it's short, I have to put mine up high over the front wheel.

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

Thanks bro. I just picked that car up with a hpi Fe15 for a little over 100. It was missing some parts but that's ok. Supposedly the chassis is titanium but not sure it is not aluminum and it don't have a scratch on it. That pipe is a rd logics outlaw pipe for a .12. If you have a 3.3 that has serious mods done to it I strongly recommend it. The stinger is about the same size as a 1/8 scale and it makes a very noticeable difference in power with it.

That 3.3 is no joke. Just ask the guys at adrennaline hobbies in Louisiana. Mine has more done to it than the one that beat their rail in my buddies 4tec. I took it out of my cd3s because it was just useless in it. That thing wouldn't hook for **** it is faster with a heavier .21 so I am hoping it will do ok in that racer with a 22/36 for now I am going to put a 25/34 in it for a speed run though.

Try heating the motor up a bit with a hair dryer or heat gun. Then loosen the plug and hit it with the starter. Should loosen up the piston a bit.

What is the downfall of getting a carbon fiber chassis made for my HPI RS4-3 at 3mm thick?

I'm only paying for the carbon fiber sheet at tower for like $60 and labor is free

This guy is also making me carbon fiber rims too. And those are totally free.

Ziggys going after a landspeed record. Big cars are easier to see at 150 mph.:D

I have got a general question about hitting and passing 100 with a racer2. What would be the problem with using a 2 speed to do it. I have got a 19/24cb and 38/43spur with 20t pulleys. I am still in the mock up stages and it can be thrown together easily. I am just curious.

Mine kicks sideways when it shifts.

fdjizm 05-10-2012 02:50 AM

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

you can do it with a 2-speed just have to have the right gearing and also have the gearing less teeth apart, shifting while at the extreme load will just bog the engine.

I tryed with a 5 tooth split, when it shifted it bogged down.
I tried with a 3 tooth split when it shifting it continued as normal.
Got up to 94mph when I was using the two speed.
I was also using bigger pulleys on that car.

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

Thanks. I also ditched the hpi 2 speed and mounted the 2 speed from one of my cd3 cars since they are smoother and accurate as hell.I think I am still going to give it a try with that car and also set up the other one with a single speed but same motor with the same mods.

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

I had the HPI 2 speed on mine I will try an ofna two speed one day because of the clutches.
But I am happy with my single speed setups for now.
The problem I ran into was the little pawl on the hpi that swings out was eating the pin on the 2 speed holder.
Not very reliable. I would get maybe 15 runs before it would rip the pin out of the holder or just wear it down to where it slips.
I'm sure shifting into 2nd at around 80 made the problem much worse lol

Road Warrior 05-10-2012 04:20 AM

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

I'm sure it would eat that thing up. I don't like that paw design. The ofna 2 speed fits in there like it was meant to be in there. I have titanium tubing that is 5mm id and 6mm od that allows me to mount that ofna setup on any vehicle. It's nice but some cars can't take the abuse from power and when you throw a shift in there something usually gives. It should work fine with the racer since there is a brace that doesn't allow for the chassis to flex. If there wasn't it moves the motor just enough to take the teeth off your spur every time.

RE: Nasty 1/10 scale on-road cars using .21 or larger engines....come inside

Oh yes I forgot to mention I was chipping 2nd gear teeth left and right lol.
I will stick with my steel spur on steel clutchbell one speeders for now!
0 maintenance!

I hear you there. I have a steel 34/25 I can put on the other one.
