Making exceed 1/16 into a 1/10 crawler
I picked up this exceed madcrawler 1/16 for $60 shipped RTR.
Im taking bits I had around and making it into a 1/10.
I already had the old truck body. A $6 peice of alum is used to make chassis rails. These have the shocks mounted upright as well as providing the body mounts. I will be using velcro on the chassis rails to hold the body.
The rear shock mount I will be changing, and I still need a way to extend the rear driveshaft.
And the bodie's wheel wells will require some trimming. Not to much tho.
I could have extened the front and rear links to achieve the wheelbase I wanted, but I figured why do that much extra? Just extend the rear. That will put more wieght over the front anyway.
Its still in "mock up" stage, but it looks a heck of alot better than it did stock IMO.

don't look that bad for a mock up
the tires even look sorta scale with that body

Having the shocks verticle...instead of slanted like they were stock limits the flex to a more "scale" amount. Which works well with the body. stock it would have the tires right up against the body.
I still wont know for certain how much it will flex till I get the driveshaft and finish the body mounts. But I almost think I wont have to trim the wheel wells at all[8D]
