If it gets more builders to want to turn ordinary toys into RC, this lets them see that it CAN be done, which, by the way, one of the guys I work with brought me a whole bunch of toy-grade RC's last weekend. He knows I build, and thought I might be able to use them. I don't plan on using all of them. I took the hardbodies off the crappy plastic chassis's, and discarded the chassis's.

3 of the bodies are small 8 - 9 inch wheelbases, maybe for a 1/18, 1/16 or 1/14. The Rover body is 1/8, and the Hummer is pretty close to 1/10.

For now, I'm keeping the ATV and the Cars Cop.

My biggest problem, is my physical abilities. I've blown my left knee out, got it repaired, but since the repair, I'm still in a lot of pain. Right knee isn't any better, I can feel it popping, occasional pain. In either case, walking around on uneven ground, chasing a little car around, is not my idea of fun.

I'd rather sit in a booth, above the track, and run.

Awe man that sucks. wonder why they removed the option. not cool when things get changed like that.

maybe it's for older posts. i used edit to add this comment. i'm going to search around to see if i can find any info about it.

saw that a post's edit feature is locked after 60 days.

Ya, maybe that's it, because today it's showing, so 60 days from yesterday, they'll remove the option. I guess if it's been up for 60 days, they figure you don't need to make any changes, it's cool, I'll just have to remember that.

Oh, but it is. When I laid eyes on that transmission I thought it would work nicely for the 1/6th scale jeep. I have two that I am working on. So I was hoping that someone here may have already installed that product into one of their projects.

But thanks for the positive response. I didn't know I was pissing on your parade. Especially since the title of the thread is "1/6 G.I. Joe Jeep", not "My 1/6 G.I. Joe Jeep build" Seemed like an all inclusive thread on the 1/6th Scale G.I. Joe jeep.

And there are a lot of guys that build 1/6 Jeeps, usually the guys with the later model Hasbro Jeep (2000-2003), Dragon, and 21st Century Jeeps, run the forward mounted motor, trans, divorced transfer case, because those Jeeps are much more highly detailed scalewise, than the early Hasbro Jeep above. Some of those models have a detailed engine that can be cut up with a dremel and be used as an engine cover to hide the electric motor. The only problem I've seen when builders do that, is lack of airflow, so to remedy that, they take a small fan, cut a hole in the scale radiator, and mount it up to pull air in to cool the electric motor.

Just so you know, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, and I know this isn't a rock crawler, however, it will do a slow crawl around my outdoor railroad.

I recently purchased a Live Steam locomotive kit. Should be here sometime between the March and April, (I hope). Anyways, it's a Regner Henry, a small logging tram

Change of plans, still getting a live steam loco, just not the one above. The Henry was coming as a kit, so I'd have to put it together, and while I consider myself to be very mechanically inclined, I'm also a novice to live steam, and the Henry is a first run. We all know from our RC's that first run trucks usually have a few unforeseen problems, and I don't need the added stress at this time, so I cancelled the order, and ordered a Roundhouse Sammie. Roundhouse live steam engines have a history of quality and reliability, and several members of the large scale railroad forums that I visit, have insisted that the Roundhouse engine is the better choice for beginners, as they are easy to steam up and break in.

So let me introduce you to the Roundhouse Sammie:

the sammie has more of a train look to it. i like it. the other is cool but makes me think of a trolley.
you got a pretty sweet train track setup. looking forward to seeing this one chugging on those rails.

It came as seen in the pic, ran it yesterday after installing a couple accessories. Definitely going to need to hook up a servo to the throttle.
