Default Questions about the venom creeper.

Hey guys i just got a venom creeper from a personal online sale. it looks good and seems that it was not used yet. it dosen't have the electronics but it does have a motor. well as i'm going through it making sure it all is good.
I have noticed some times the wheels turn left to right and some times it's like it's getting stuck and won't turn more than a half an inch. what would be causing that?
what ESC would you guys recommend for the integy 60T motor that's in it?
the suspension is connected right but doesn't seem to articulate as much as it should.i can get more from my rs10xt. so any tips on suspension setup?
thanks for any help guys.

I run Axial AE-2 ESC's with my integy 35t in my trucks, as far as the funky steering, check your batteries in the controller, make sure all plugs are pushed in all the way, you said it's used, so check all electrical connections for continuity, check your servo, that it's centered, check your endpoints, you know the routine.

Yeah it don't have any electronics but a motor. i was doing some research and it's something in the steering hubs.
on the box it says comp crawler and i want to work out all the bugs so it can get close to being comp ready.
i'm not sure but i don't think i can use a AE-2 ESC with a 60t motor but i'll look in to it some more.
so to my understanding the suspension is ok and my rs10 xt has to much.

I had serious issues of breaking axle's and pins coming out. After upgrading to the newer axle and driveshaft kits which use collar's to keep the pins in this was solved. Also this kit is now discontinued so parts are
becoming hard to find.

Yeah i kinda noticed the parts are hard to find. i not sure if i'm going to keep it.
iv'e been doing some research and watching some vid's on it and with the pins, drive shaft and the locker issues it's making it hard to keep it.
might get rid of it and put the cash to what i really want. the XR10!

Just my opinion, and I may be wrong, but we have "hobby grade" RC's, so no matter the manufacturer, we should be able to use comparable parts from other manufacturers to make things work. Don't give up yet, I'm sure there are ways to make your Venom Creeper work.

Well you can call me crazy but i went ahead and got the two diff lock servo setups and a dig unit in the mail coming my way. YAY!
still might be a bit until i get to run it because it was a kit and didn't come with electronics so i'm on the look out for a 4 channel pistol and the rest of the goods.maybe around summer or so it might be crawling on some big rocks. here's a pic with the beetle body i tossed on it.

The mail man dropped off a little something for me today.

two of them for the creeper. i can tell already that i need to find stronger small servo arms. these are looking a little weak.
oh and some more good news. got the dig in the mail to but won't get it til like the end of the month.

So my first question is know where i can get metal servo arms for these mini servos?

I never had any issues with plastic servo horns. The main issue I always had was the actual wire bending between the servo and housing for the guide tube. Really never did get that system
dialed in and it always slipped out of being locked so I dumped it and got the permanent lockers. Hope you have better luck.

Thanks benny. i'm going to try to relocate the mini servo's to the axle so there won't be as much cable. the front is going to be tricky but ill give it a shot.

as far as metal servo horns, try looking at r/c plane parts at your local hobby shop.

I had some time today before work to get some wrench time on the creeper. got one servo mounted to the chassi, the axle mount in place for the switch lever and the cable in place. i'm noticing that the grub screws that hold the cable ends in place are a different size. manual says 1.5mm but both of my 1.5mm hex wrenches are a bit to big. so going to look for some smaller ones like 1.3 or 1 to see if it will work. getting some loctite soon.
the dig unit should be here tomorrow.

The dig is in. it's cool how it works. disconnecting the drive shaft very cool idea.
snapped some pic's while i was building it up.

ran in to a small problem along the way. the guy it got it from stripped the rear drive shaft grub screw on the axle side so i trimmed the OEM one to fit. no biggie if i really what a factory one there is a few floating around but probably not.
so now that the rear drive shaft is shorter you guys got any good replacement suggestions?

The only concern you have is the ID on the collar attaching point and shaft travel lengths. Just about all the brands these days have telescoping driveshafts. Just look mainly at the brands that have crawlers (axial, HPI, traxxas, losi, etc.) and definitely look at or contact rc4wd.com. I forget what the ID is but if I get into the shop in the next couple days I'll do some digging for ya.
