well like in trucks etc it much better to crawl with narrower tyres on complicated terrain because they dont put as much stress on stuff and they can get in between the rocks better

Narrowing your rims involves cutting the 2 outer lips off with a hacksaw to force the tire in more to give yourself more of a sidebit on the sidewalls, its a very easy modification and does help alittle bit on overall performance.
