my first crawler...design stage.
this is my crawler idea... using TLT 1 axles, 2.2 wheels and tires and a fully welded frame made of aluminum rod, a scratchbuilt tranny and a seriously hacked up HPI rubicon body this is what I came up with. now keep in mind these axles are just for the concept. and there a few small issues I will address, mainly concerning the placement of the steering servo (as it might get hit by the front axle when it's fully compressed). but no real problem areas that I can see. please give any tips or ideas for improving as I plan to start building the chassis monday.

RE: my first crawler...design stage.
does 3dsmax have real world measurements? will you be able to actually use the plans? How about the obligatory "articulation Shot" - which seems to be the money-shot for crawler fans!!
This page takes ages to load and I have a T3 leased line connection... how about a 56k warning on the Title someone as i would be well miffed if I was trying to view this over dialup.....

I'll use the body as a template to make the frame...and scale it all as I go...it sounds more complicated than it is...

only way I know is buy the whole kit...then you get the tranny, some test wheels, shocks...and LOTS of screws for your project too!

I can do it but I'm kinda swamped with stuff already...the program is fairly expensive and has pretty stout security so I don't think it's available other than buying it.

RE: my first crawler...design stage.
it won't work...the program needs an auth code and serial number to work and if I give you mine then my copy won't work. it's registered with the programs maker.
