SNOW!!!!
Hey all... Well, we are getting DUMPED on! at 10 Inches now and there is still 19 hours of the storm left! So, Anyway, The question I have is what can you do to allow your truck to go in the snow? Particurally a Clod and or any Electric Truck.
how do you protect the motor?
I guess the Radio and ESC is easy... Thanks, Gary

RE: SNOW!!!!
To seal up all the electronics you can put balloons around the reciver and carefully put one around the servos, just cut a little hole for the wire and put the top of the balloon at the top of the servo. Then put showgoo around the holes to seal it up. Thats how I was taught to do it.

RE: SNOW!!!!
snow chains are good!
go to the hardware store and pick up some chain. i forget what kind i used, but just get some that's not too big and not too small, preferably easy to open links with needle nose pliers.
on my X-Factor's stock tires it took 12 links around each side of the wheel and 9 accross the tire, with 6 groups.....hard to explain, here's pics:

RE: SNOW!!!!
LMAO! That's GREAT! Haa haa... Ok, I wasn't expecting the Chains! That's just great!
So do you agree about the motor??? I'm talking a lot of snow here. We have about 11" of powder and it's still going strong!
Chances are, It's going to completely soak my motors...
I know you can brake them in that way, With water I mean. Never could figure how that works. Thanks!!! G.

RE: SNOW!!!!
sure i ran my novak 5800 system uncovered in the snow it was fine and i did it with my stock reedy mvp motor so i don't see a problem with it,other than it might get a little wet inside so i'd take it inside and dry it off

RE: SNOW!!!!
Did someone say snow??? In the midwest if you don't run in the snow you loose three to four months a year of prime time drive time. Jumbo Kongs run great in the snow. After the snow melts comes the mud! I have had my Savage loaded with so much mud my shocks were fully compressed.
Seal the servos and receiver with silicon and put in a water tight on/off switch.
After you run in the snow get the truck inside so the snow melts off quickly then spray some oil/WD40/light grease on anything steel in the drive train to prevent any rust.
For tire chains, I used the type of chain but added two cross segments to help keep them tight on the tires. May not need them.

RE: SNOW!!!!
Thanks! I did take it out in the snow today Very fun. Shooting up roosters of snow! The hills of snow are still too soft to climb though. It was fun drifting in the snow though. Thanks for all your help! What a Pain to clean up though!

RE: SNOW!!!!
not yet, i'm saving the 3rd channel for reverse, i may try hooking a servo up to the r-box or something, but right now, it's fixed.
i'm still thinking of ways to hinge it

RE: SNOW!!!!
Ah... Well, you could also link it to the reverse servo. That way when you go in reverse it goes up and then back down in FWD. That could be sweet.
