Thank you

it was doing well before, but I just gone done building those axles this weekend. I upgraded most of the parts, new tubes, cases, knuckles, CVD's and wheel extenders. I should have the new servos in the mail tomorrow for it. We have a big weekend comp this weekend so I hope it does well.

I do have to say with the new setup it has almost twice the turning as before. I hope to hear a lot less "Reverse" from the judges now

I have over a grand into clod now (the axle upgrades were 500).
I have also seen them built on low budgets and i have done one that way too.

there is one full kit that is coming out, but most people are just building them up. you can get a hustler as a full ARR kit for around 600 for the axles and chassis
thecrawlerstore had RTR kits that were all the parts needed you jsut had to built it all up.

basically you start with picking your axle type and go from there.

yea, it is a lot. but when I am out for a day I know it will hold up. I was jstu blessed a bit with my job so I have a bit more of a hobby budget now, so I like to use it
you can look at my ads and see that when i do build something I always do it on the higher level.

but, like I said you can make a great crawler and spend well less that 1/2 of that. I know a guy that made one with just left over tc3 parts and other odds and ends. I think he spent no more than 100 on it, and it works. so don;t think you ahve to run out and drop the money to have fun.

depends on what you have to start with.
if you can put a bit more into it you can look at the new Axial that is coming out. it will be a 2.2 that will be very good for 249.00 for chassis, links, tranny, axles, wheels, tiers.

you can also look for a used set of clod or tlt axels and built up fomr there.
you can get a tlt on ebay for around 90, and then you can make custom links and add some 2.2 tiers.

there is a lot you can do to cut the cost.

The most expensive parts are the motor (s), esc, receiver, servo (s), center tranny (shafty), and axles. Everything else is fairly cheap and can be made from stuff. If you could get all that for $120 you should be close to your budget.

Making the tires was fairly simple.

I started w/ a set of Maxx Badlands and a set of 2.2 Moabs. I cut around the side lugs of the Moabs until all 8 sidewalls were separated from the treads.

I then lined the 2.2 sidewalls up on the sides of the Badlands and tacked them w/ IC2000 rubberized CA.

I then ran a bead of CA from tack to tack until I had a bead completely around the sidewall of the Moab portion.

I let the CA set up over night and did the other side in the same fashion the next day.

The Badlands are made in the longer wearing XTR rubber compound while the Moab and Mashers I was used to running are made from the softer M2 compound.

In order the soften the Badlands, I use Trinity Buggy Grip on them before every competition.

Between the Badlands knobby design w/ it's multiple contact points and the Buggy Grip rubber softening compound, I had yet to not be able to gain traction.

Add that to their increased size and to this point they have been a huge success!
