RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Hi, there are some nice WK rigs you guys have put togather. I got one and could not resist tweaking it a bit
.
This is the design I came up with of a chassis for my WK.
Disreguard the date, the camera was messed up.
I tried to use as many stock parts as possible.
Clocked tranny plate( but it is still a little tall for my liking)
.
Here is the stock body next to one I customized, with custom fack and scale stuff I made.
Completed, ready to hit the trails.
Obligatory flex shot.
Loco 8
Testing in the rock garden.
Thanks for taking a look, hope it gives inspiration and idea's.
Merry Christmas!

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
Thanks, it took about 3 weeks time, a few hours every evening and a full day on the week ends. Some of the things I got at a doll house store , like the soda cans and charcoal and lighter fluid, and the rest I made from whatever I could get hold of , styrene, scrap metal from work and some pieces of my kids discarded toys.
I used an old marker to make the fire extinguisher and compressed air tank.
Here are some things I made, axe, shovel, Hi lift jack(styrene) and the cooler is also styrene, the fire bottle is almost complete and the air tank is still in progress.

The cooler.
The air tank.
Thanks! once again, for your interest.

Thanks, Step. I like the look of the geolanders, and I narrowed the rims to 1.5" so it also helps to pull the tire in a bit so the sidewall is more exposed. I have a set of moabs that I haven't tried yet. The rims are cheap Traxxas dye-able type, and if you cut theouter bead off and flip it around, it will slide back onto the rim and can be super glued in place reducing the width of the rims, up to about 5/8" to just under one and a half inches overall width, cheap and effective.
I try to study as many details of the item I plan to make, and don't always expect get it right the first time. The jack was modelled after one I saw one another RC forum, each part was made seperately, like the real thing, and then put together after painting.
I am working on a tuber for my next WK project.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

On www.rccrawler.com go to the Wheely King page, there is a Sticky that says something like "free servo mount" or "free mount template". I can't remember, but it's there.

I have the New Era Crawler conv and I shortened the wheelbase some. I wanted more of a basher monster truck yet it would still be like the HPI conversion. Issue I'm having is that when I roll the body side to side I cane see teh axles twist, pushing one tire out in front of another and I'm going to guees its gonna steer itself. Anyone have this isuue with the HPI conversion? I had a sock WK and don't remember that happening.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
I am thinking about getting a Wheelie King for my 4 year old, what do you guys think? He has been through a couple of the New Bright Walmart special junkers and he is ready for the real thing. I figure he can grow up with it and have some fun. Heck I already have $100 into the 2 Walmart specials and the batteries are now toast. Again, the 4yr old is not a beginner I have great confidence that he will be able to handle this thing.
I have a modded Savage and his 14 yr old brother has a Tmaxx 3.3 so he definitely needs something faster. Whatever I get him I'm sure he'll be happy with it as he just wants to hang out with the guys and have some fun. I figured for $200 I should have bought this for him last year. I have looked at the stampede as well and the WK looks like a ton more truck for the money. I am a HPI fan as the Savage has been great. The only reason my 14 yr old has a Tmaxx is that he bought it himself...it is a good truck but not real durable.

Go for it. I have a 3.5 year old that has his own mini baja and thrashes it. Just make sure that you have tools with you when you are away from home. The Wheely King is a solid truck and I have seen them fall from several feet. 8+ and have been fine. Almost bullet proof.

Yeah, I told him I would get it for him if he took first in his wrestling tournament today, and low and behold he did.....He is now 10-1 on his first season as his only loss was his first match ever...I guess he and Dan Gable have atleast one thing in common...LOL I guess it's off to the LHS Monday.
