Here is a vid of a crawler with a fairly low center of gravity.

Thought I would drop in and say that you have great photography skills Nick.
You make me want to pony up and buy an SCX10 or a Tamiya kit.  Love the scale shots!

After looking over the entire thread - I now want a scale crawler. I do a lot of hiking and it would be fun on the trails.

These pictures are from the Night trail run we did a week and a half ago in San Jose. This is where I sheared my output drive....Gnarly tough trail to test any rig!

Thanks to Derek(MonsterDDT on RCC) for taking the pictures. Monsters rig is the yellow CR-01 and mine is the blue home-built FJ40....So many nice rigs and people showed up but I love Cruisers so....

Home made tube chassis, WK axles, Rustler tranny and Geoladers on narrowed Traxxas rims, with many other self fabricated bits and pieces.

Sorry for not responding sooner, yes I have a build thread on another forum.

heres a few from me playin around.

i must say from above that i am a nitro nut as welland race alot, but i couldnt imagine not having my crawler im definitely hooked on goin slow and pretty much have mine with me daily at work and when/if i have free time i hit up anything that looks like a challenge!! its funny when im down at one of my spots i always get the( is it gas?, how fast is it?) questions from people that see it.

i always get a chuckle out of that

Forgive my rudeness, just didnt want to make a whole new thred for this one question.

I read earlier that 90 degrees of articulation hurts performance?

why is this?

Thanks

Adam.

p.s, i just built a scratch built crawler in two days, ill get pics later.

Its unneccessary, with that much articulation you're just going to end up like a pretzel if one of your tires happens to get bound on the rocks. Instead of crawling out of a situation the rig will want to twist up on its own torque.

heavier shock oil, harder springs are the easiest method, you can also play with your link geometry as well. some aftermarket chassis also allow you to make slight geometry adjustments by offering varying width skid plates.
