Yeah I was a little surprised myself. I had been debating how I was going to go about doing the bed, and I was messing around on the PC when all of the sudden the packaging caught my eye sitting on top of the garbage can in my work area and I was like well imagine that. Sized it up and bam I knew what I had to do.

Ok got the first couple coats of black on it. Now I need to tidy up where it meets the cab, and work on a few little details for placing inside of it.
Once that's all finished up I think I'm going to hit it with undercoating to add some texture.

That looks sweet! It looks like it might still be rigid in the back the way you made it with the ribs. Is it stiff enough to handle being bumped into or will this be more of a trail body?

It should be plenty tough enough to take a pretty good beating. The body is actually more rigid now than it was before I did this mod.

How does it do as far as running it over a lot of rocks? How does it do as a walk around and romp over stuff vehicle? I really am looking into buying one cause its cheap and I have always wanted a rock crawler.

It does very well as a walk around and run it on the trails rig, and is pretty competent for crawling over some rocks. It won't do any extreme rock crawling in stock form, but it crawls darn good for $50.

These use a standard 12mm hex for the wheels, so any wheels and tires from other crawler and scale rigs will go right on with no adapters needed. The only bodies I have used so far, are the stock body, and the blue and white lid I am running now is a Parma Blackfoot body that I got from Tower.

Saweet Rig Hyperminis!  I have a Micro Desert Truck that I am wanting to trade in the Marketplace for a Cliff Climber or Losi Mini Crawler.  I dont care which one, but am now definitely leaning more towards the Cliff Climber.  Seeing its potential has really tipped the scales in its favor.

Ok, so I decided not to cut my grill out until I had something figured out for replacing it. In the meantime I was tired of it, and the bumpers matching the body, so I went ahead and sprayed them with some flat black. I also hit up the LHS in hopes that they would have some HPI stock car wheels, and a couple pair of Pro-Line 1.9 Flat Irons. Well they had one pair of Flat Irons, and no stock car wheels. Since I was there though, and had already planned on spending some money, I went ahead and grabbed myself this.

In order to mount it I had to make a small L bracket and attach it to the inside of the body, and then mark and drill the holes for the winch to bolt to. So anyhow I got all that done, got it all wired up, and now I'm just waiting for the epoxy to set up so that I can put it to the test. I did do a small test after I got it mounted, and hooked the winch around the leg of a chair in my work shop, and it reeled the truck right in without breaking a sweat. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I can really work it, and get some vid of it in action. For now though here a few updated pics.

You would get plenty of Opportunities to use that sucker if you were wheeling with me all day! I would not be able to cheat with the hand of god to right me all the time. Maybe my winch will mysteriously never work? Haha

Lol if you were closer, I'd say get that rig charged up and let's go test this winch. Unfortunately Cali is a long ways from Michigan.
