    J-Boat Build

    Has anyone built one of these J-Boats?
    I'm starting on a build in February.
    Regards,
    John

    RE: J-Boat Build

    I will be receiving my Ranger hull that I have ordered relatively soon. I plan on building the boat this winter. By coincidence there is someone else in my immediate area that placed an order for the exact same hull and they are both being delivered together. I will be happy to keep you posted as to how my build is going as it moves forward. It seems some interest was created for these boats when our area hosted the J boat championships here a couple of weekends ago.

    RE: J-Boat Build

    Hi John;

    Season's Greetings from the 'Valley of the Sun'.

    Do you have an email address for Larry Ludwig? I've been interested in Js' for many years now, and obtained a set of plans for LF Herreschoff's ENTERPRISE, the only double-ender J Class, many years ago, but that is as far as I got. A FG hull would be a great start, and the RANGER was the greatest J ever. Thanx in advance for any assistance provided, good luck with your build. Best regards and Happy Holidays from Glendale, Arizona,

    Joe Nagy.

    RE: J-Boat Build

    I have just received my ranger hull from Bob Sennot. This is the person Larry will refer you to, As mentioned earlier in this forum. Larry has some of the supplies that will be needed to rig the hull after you receive it.

    RE: J-Boat Build

    Joe and company

    I tried to post this while on the road but apparently it didn't work... just to avoid any dissapointments I wanted to warn you: Whirlwind is the boat you seem to be thinking of. She was the double-ender designed by Herreshoff.

    Enterprise was designed by Starling Burgess (and built by Herrreshoff Manufacturing as were all of the J-class defenders) and she outperformed three lrger boats Whirlwind, Yankee, and Weetamoe to win the nod as the 1930 Cup Defender.

    I hope that's helpful though you'll get nothing less than a thing of beauty no matter what J-boat you go for!
