Dark Harbor 17 sailboat kit by Laughing Whale
Just wanted to let you all know that I have listed a Dark Harbor 17 model sailboat kit by Laughing Whale on eBay recently:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trks...at=0&_from=R40
This kit is from the 1980s and is from the now-defunct Laughing Whale kit company, formerly of Bath, Maine. I have two of these kits, but have only listed one on eBay. This kit can be built as a static display or as an R/C pond racer with included R/C sub-kit. The kit does not, however, include servos or a radio. The kit features basswood, mahogany, brass parts, linen and nylon sail cloth (for either static or R/C model), full size plans (for both construction and R/C rigging), lead keel, instruction booklet and some construction photos.
The Dark Harbor 17 racing sloop was designed by B.B. Crowninshield in the early 1900s and many were built in New England since that time. It remains a popular design.
The kit features plank-on-bulkhead construction. Its simple hull form and rigging make it a fairly easy model to build for display and/or pond racing.
Model measures approximately 26" long and 6.5" wide.
