Default Spektrum AR400, any good on the water?

I just picked up a Spektrum AR400 for a sailboat (TT Victoria) I am taking to the cottage... just for fun. I have flown RC for 30 years but this is my 1st sailboat. The hobby guy was a little concerned and said Spektrum sold a marine RX and thought this cheaper AR400 may be a problem on the water since Spektrum had problems at one time? Has anyone had issues?

It should be fine- just velcro (hook&loop) it to the underside of the deck to keep the antenna above the waterline, or any other mounting method that does the same thing.
