Nope. We call it therapy. Just make sure you can get your boat back if something 'bad' happens - like dead batteries or weeds on the keel. Our pond has access all the way around (we're lucky) but has 1 island in the middle which is sort of like Charlie Brown's kite-eating tree. It eats errant boats

RE: I have a Question...
Mr. Morbid,
Well, that sort of depends on where you're starting from. There is a learning curve, and it can be quite slippery at times. But, climbing that learning curve isn't very difficult (just takes time). For whatever reasons, some people can't or aren't willing to make the climb, so that's why this hobby might have a 'difficult' name (Hey, if I can do it, anybody can!). Everyone makes mistakes, so expect a few. The idea is to keep them to a minimum, or at least not total disasters. Understanding how things work, or getting a 'feel' for it is one 'key'. You can't learn to play the piano without hitting a few 'sour' notes... same difference.

RE: I have a Question...
hmm sailing hard ie difficult...I would say: NO!!
A beginner boat is usually not that fast!!! Anyway, a sailing boat gives you usually time to react....of course you can make every boat faster!!! but for that, you ll need patience, understanding, practice...studying!!! yup all of these!
Again...practice!
Many forums aound the net, many great people who are all willing to help others....I say: "go ahead, get a boat...and sail" get use to it...save money for the next one..ask questions

RE: I have a Question...
From my point of view, RC-sailing isn't difficult.
Of course I'm biased, as I've been sailing dingy's for the odd fourty years...
Still I managed to land my Voyager in the reeds after two minutes on her maiden voyage!
Once you get used to how the boat handles, it's not difficult at all.
Personally I have more trouble learning and applying the rules when racing other boats.
Just go for it!
Regards, Jan.
