Default Yamaha 40EX

Anyone have a thought on one of these? [link=http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=56204]Yamaha 40EX[/link]

It looks like a nice boat. I can only find one listing on these forums and it doesnt say how it handles. Looked on the web and dont find much info on it. I am still looking at the Seawind. I think I am going to pass on the Sanibel because my brother owns one and I dont want to have the same as him

Go to seawindrc.com for great commentary on the Seawind. This site is dedicated to this boat only, and will provide any and all info you need. Scott

Bart, Switzzer is giving you some good advice. Looking at the price of this Yamaha boat, you could get a Kyosho "Fairwind" much cheaper and have a AMYA sanctioned class boat in the bargain. Or another good alternative would be a Soling 1Meter from Victor Model Products. Also much cheaper and a sanctioned class boat. The Seawind is probably the fastest of the lot. Soling a closs second.

Just went by and looked at the Yamaha, too expensive for the size, 600 mm. Still considering the Seawind

The Yamaha 40X is mainly for display purposes, it's beautiful details make it fragile and easily damaged.
For it's size it sails poorly.

For that kind of money there are far better boats available.

Regards, Jan.

I think you're wise to decide against the Yamaha 40X, Bart. There are a lot of boats that LOOK good. Boats that sail good aren't that easy to find.

Jan, hehehe, sorry but the Yamaha actually sails very good....medium(high) to strong wind as compared to the SW, light to medium...

The Yamaha doesnt have any nose-diving troubles...but the price is just too much...had one!

But I prefer the SW...specialyl now

Can't argue with a former owner, I only passed on what I'd heard about this boat...
