Yankee III Jboat help
Has any one here built the Yankee III from the amya book yet? I have never built a boat before but have built planes from scratch. They say the YankeeIII is a great light wind boat. That would be great as the pond behind the house is usually glassy. My Vic doesn't do so well but the Nirvana seems to like the light stuff. Too bad they are prefab and lack "personality" I want to build my own and the Yankee seems the right size. I just like to do a little research before jumping into a project. I guess I have built too many "wrong" airplanes in the past.

Barely, if you are indeed talking about the big "J" class boat, yes.......they sail good on very little wind...which is amazing in such a big boat. Another good light wind boat is the EC-12. You're very wise to be asking about which boats like what before you jump off and start building.
How deep and how big is the pond behind your house? And do you have a weed problem in it?

2 acres, 10 feet deep . No weeds . The AMYA Vintage Group claims the YankeeIII to be great for novice builders and skippers.

The Yankee III is now available in composite. Search about the web, you'll find the manufacturer.
