33rd AMERICAS CUP

I want to build the americans sailboat (but with canvas sails)
where can i find the specs and drawings of the hulls?
don't care about keeping it in a class

I imagine that BMW Oracle would still be rather tight lipped about the plans that they laid out many millions for.  As to running it with cloth sails.....!<div>Dont worry about classes - it never was and never will be in any class.</div><div>There might be some clues for the next editions boats on</div><div> http://www.thedailysail.com/inshore/...rule-published</div><div>at least, a specification and a link to the rules.</div>

Dont worry about classes - it never was and never will be in any class
This is definitely a false information!
Please don´t do this anymore!

There are several RG 65, Mini40- and 2Meter-multihullclass
related topics here in this forum!
Buildlogs and all!

And here:
www.rcsails.com/multihulls.htm
is even a producer of all of them!

The Mini40 class is most popular in Germany and France,
but I´m in email-contact with more than 350 multihull-prospects
from 18 different countries all over the world!

Lots of people are scared by the high tech involved,
but the vital datas are available since years.

Don´t try to scare off people who dare to dig into multihulltechnology
just because you want to stay with these slow monohulled lead ducks.

Idealist, please try to read the words and understand them as they were written in my native language.  Sadly, I am unable to translate them into German. <div>To clarify -
<div> I did NOT say that there were no multi hull classes. </div><div> I DID say that BMW Oracle, the one-off huge trimaran built especially for the 33rd Americas Cup and for no other purpose, was not in any class and that there never would be a class for it.  Two widely different boats built for one competition does not make a class.   What happens in the model world is an entirely different matter.</div><div> I did NOT suggest that hi-tech was either undesirable or impossible, I did imply that trying to emulate a boat that relied on hi tech (ultra lightweight wingsail) in real life would probably suffer from having cloth sails.  The variable geometry fins might give a few problems, as well, possibly an over-steep learning curve for someone new to the hobby, and that is an assumption I made from the number of posts and the question itself.<div>No doubt the OP, given enough information, will be able to make a trimaran that looks near enough to BMW Oracle and use the cloth sails that he wants and it might sail well.  It might even fit one of the classes you mentioned.

Thank you very much for clarifying that!
I can totally agree the way you wrote it now.

Let´s just give this gent a hand and we´ll see what comes out of it.

First of all - here are the first 2M Tri selfbuildingplans I published in 2000/2001:
http://members.chello.nl/~t.iwema/2MTri.html
The pics show me with the carbon/epoxy boat built from these plans.

If you scroll down a bit, you can see some 3D renderings of the new 2M Tri hulls Siri had first converted into AutoCAD files and then into printable PDF files for the templates:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9251750/tm.htm

This tri was designed by me last year and Siri is working on a prototype.

And here is the link to an ongoing build of a real wingmast for a Mini40 Trimaran:
http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showt...-Mini40/page10

Some pics of my own last 2M Tri under construction in 2006.
Unfortunately I had to sell it uncompleted.
Couldn´t continue due to health problems.

And here is the link where you can see the buildprocedure of the plug as well:

RE: 33rd AMERICAS CUP

Why not try it like this:
http://www.rcsails.com/nightmare.htm

Go to the gallery and look for the black ´n white boat.
That´s basically all you need to do.
