I want to build the americans sailboat (but with canvas sails)
where can i find the specs and drawings of the hulls? don't care about keeping it in a class |

I imagine that BMW Oracle would still be rather tight lipped about the plans that they laid out many millions for. There are several RG 65, Mini40- and 2Meter-multihullclass related topics here in this forum! Buildlogs and all! And here: www.rcsails.com/multihulls.htm is even a producer of all of them! The Mini40 class is most popular in Germany and France, but I´m in email-contact with more than 350 multihull-prospects from 18 different countries all over the world! Lots of people are scared by the high tech involved, but the vital datas are available since years. Don´t try to scare off people who dare to dig into multihulltechnology just because you want to stay with these slow monohulled lead ducks. |

Two widely different boats built for one competition does not make a class. What happens in the model world is an entirely different matter.</div><div> I did NOT suggest that hi-tech was either undesirable or impossible, I did imply that trying to emulate a boat that relied on hi tech (ultra lightweight wingsail) in real life would probably suffer from having cloth sails. The variable geometry fins might give a few problems, as well, possibly an over-steep learning curve for someone new to the hobby, and that is an assumption I made from the number of posts and the question itself.<div>No doubt the OP, given enough information, will be able to make a trimaran that looks near enough to BMW Oracle and use the cloth sails that he wants and it might sail well.
