What on-board video did you use?

Well, its just a 35 to 40 buck bubble-gum cam. About the size of a stick of gum, and great for really small applications. I can find a link for you if your interested. Amazing thing is the quality isnt bad, its so small you can stick it just about anywhere, and it'll take up to an hour and a half of footage, which you simply plug in and download to your PC afterwards.

This is actually it, but I think you can find it cheaper still elsewhere. I did.

The reason I ask is that I've been looking at several myself. The other day at the field one of my buddies had one of the Fly DV cameras and it's incredibly small. It does timed stills and video, weighs 20g WITH the built-in LIPO battery. The video looks ok but the resolution of the stills is a bit muddy.

I'd like to mount the cam out on the struts pointing in at the fuselage.

Hmmm, I have no experience with that one, but it looks roughly equivalent. I've found that you seldom use the camera "snap shot option much, as I can simply pull "stills" from the live video I get by pausing the footage on a good shot at full screen, hitting "print screen, and then opening paint and pasting the shot in, then saving it as a jpeg. I can't really compare the resolutions of the two though.

BTW, I checked out your other video and you've built a good collection of WWI 1/2A models over the years! I'm impressed that you even built a Focke-Wolk from a Fiddler Green card model!

Thanks! Yeah that FW190 was a tough old bird. She'd still be flying today if it weren't for a mid-flight battery disconnect. Was a sad day.

PS. That was the only AC I've ever experienced high speed aileron flutter with. Was pulling out of an insane dive from incredibly high up and all-of a sudden, as she started to really speed down (and I mean Faaaaaaast) I couldn't pull out. I just held up elevator and as she bored in she slowly started to pull out, and levelled off with no more than a bout five feet of altitude left. I never took her straight down that fast again after that. lol!

Awesome vid, Zoom-Zoom! It really was fun to watch especially near the end when passing by those trees- they were close! Did the pilot and observer survive the landing? lol

Of course! The pilot was standing on the side of the field with a radio in his hand and the "observer" had a camcorder! No skin off their noses!
