Rhinebeck Jamboree 2011
Any other RCU members attend the Jamboree this past weekend? I was only able to come for Sunday, and it seemed much smaller than in previous years, but it was still a blast as always. Any other pictures?

The problem was all the events in New York State all happened on the same weekend. S.T.A.R.S. had their show in Syracuse and I went to that one, and a Helicopter Jamborie Competition was also going on at the same time.
We need planners to comunicate more with other event planners in the future. JMHO

sadly only the dvii this year, my battery died just as the full scale show was getting underway! also the in flight photos suffered due to my experimenting with exposure compensation and a five year old hanging on one arm and an eight year old on the other...

RE: Rhinebeck Jamboree 2011
I was there for my third year and was joined by my brother who came out from Michigan and my 89 year old father who drove down with me from Maine. I flew my BUSA Eindecker, H9 Fokker DVII and Parkzone SE5. I was able to be part of the first "mass electric launch" this year on Saturday and the SE5 flew great! I will be posting some videos as soon as I can.
Here is some Saturday morning activity featuring the beautiful Curtiss B2 Condor bomber. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcsyCrrfui0
My brother and I got in several flights each day and my father enjoyed the models and full scale airshow too.
I have a lot of flight video of the full scale but only pictures of the Stearman...just couldn't do both at the same time! The beautiful SE5a below is obviously NOT the ParkZone version but a scratch built version based on the one at Old Warden airfield in England at the Shuttleworth collection. The LITTLE SE5 is the electric one.

Just went on saturday Beautiful day but a bit of a crosswinds. Here`s a few pics there was a awsome 27% SE5 gent was from Canada did not fly it because of engine issues (won at Toledo I think a year ago) was a sight to behold plus the 1/2 scale Nieuport 11 he did not fly it that day but found out he did on sunday would of loved to see it airborne. Well a big bonus at my end saved a bit up for the ride in the 1929 New Standard

Oh I know what that's like. I have a 3 year old son, and I usually have my mother-in-law baby sit when I go to a show when my wife comes with me. My wife now likes to come to the shows because she knows she's going to get a break. Anyone who has small children knows what I mean.
I wanted to fly my Fokker DR1 at the S.T.A.R.S. event, but I got with the one other DR1 pilot that was there and we both agreed that the winds were too gusty and variable for our liking. But my Hanger 9 Fokker DVII did great against the BUSA Camel!

The 45th RC Jamboree was a lot of fun for sure. We went and set up camp and helped Whitney Philbrick and the rest of the Mid-Hudson RC Society guys with some prizes and over all it was a lot of good vintage RC fun. I really had a lot of fun with the mass electric launch/flight... Wish I had full charged my flight pack...I also shot a bunch of photos as well as some video of the super stearman aerobatic show and an interview with Richard Feroldi with his big Ansaldo. please check it out if you have chance. Hi Guys
Back from another excellent time at ORA. Lots of fun had by all. I brought my Morane A-I which was it's 20th year flying at the aerodrome, and it's last. Yes she will fly no more. Lost engine over trees and just clipped a branch before making it to safety. That old bird doesn't owe me anything. Also had my Sopwith Pup which also is over 20years old. And I finished up a new Stinson Reliant SR-8 from W.H. plans, 126 inch wing at 45 lbs. 5.8 brisson. Test flew her on sat. evening. Went great, just needs some fine tunning. Unfortunetly Gerry Yarish didn't seem to like her enough to include her in his coverge on the event. I did end up taking first place in the scale event with the stinson. Again the GTM group partyed like crazy having a cook out at the field friday night, lots of food and Manhattans. I hope to replace my Morane with a Balsa USA D-7 next year, I plan on starting the project soon. I must say I seen much improvment with the areodrome this year, good things are happening there. And Hats off to the MID HUDSON Club for putting on their 45th Rhinebeck Jamborree, Great job fellas!!!
Thanks
TK

Hi Dave
Yes, she was 24 years old, flew at ORA for 20, I do not think it wise to fly it in front of so many people anymore anyways. Too much damage. I will try to glue it together enough to donate it to the museum up on the hill. The fuse is completely broken in half. I plan on starting a new Balsa USA D-7 with alot of GTM stuff in it, plus a Vogelslang gear drive G-62. To replace the A-I for fun. I would build one of Glenns D-7's but that will turn into a two year project, I just want a fun scale D-7 Here's some more pic's of a plane gone to rest!!

Good to hear you'll be at least putting it back together again. I look forward to seeing it in the museum. :-)

Sorry for your loss TK, it was a great flying airplane. I didn't see it fly that day, but I did see it in the pits afterward...pretty bad shape. Hope you don't mind me posting some "after" pictures to go along with your "before" only to give your friends an idea of how much work it will take to make it presentable.

Just the parts that are left have more scale detailing and weathering on them than many other models have all in one piece. Tom, your commitment and contributions to scale modeling put a lot of things in perspective.

A very enjoyable weekend!
Good to see you again Tom. That Stinson is impressive - all the more fore being done in 3 months! And thanks for the comments about the Aviatik.
When we got home, Brian whipped up a bunch of wheel chocks for our planes - have a look!
