Default Stupid truck ad

Have you seen that TV ad where the commercial aircraft is coming in for a landing with the front gear twisted all up? Some one drives a pickup over in front of it and the plane lands with its front gear settling down into the trunk's bed. All are safe and the people in the terminal all applaud.
The truck appears to be going about forty miles an hour, judging from the turn it makes to line up with the plane. It still is slightly outpacing the jet at this point. Apparently Boeing has been working to reduce their landing speeds significantly?
There are lots of irritating car ads but this is one of the dumbest.

Used to be a time when false advertising wasn't permitted.

If you look real close, you can see the disclaimer that says "this is a dramitization, do not attempt at home" , REALLY??????? I agree, totally rediculous.

Sorry, but I laughed at it. Same as I laughed at the VW commercial that shows two guys listening to language tapes and becoming fluent in Spanish between fill-ups. I don't really think they are implying that I can learn a second language in a (long) day.

More "Oh come now" advertising,,, '

see the one with the Toyota or Nissan truck pushing the sandrail the rest of the way up the sand dune after coming to a complete stop at a 60 degree angle??

It seams if it's ridiculous enough they can claim they were just joking,, but deep down they know there are enough people that will believe it's possible

The game the ad agencies play nowadays is to claim that ads are only "aspirational."

Scale,

You should back light your avatar. The darkened silhouette would be an improvment.

Scary part is there are probably a large number of people out there that think that commercial is real or at least possible. Maybe the Mythbusters should look into this.

They used to use a Camaro. Now they use a re-badged Holden Commodore.

The best cars are built in Australia. Just ask the majority of your justice departments.

Which just reinforces my comments to my grand kids. If you see it in a commercial, its not true. Its just easier that way. If you're interested, research it and find out for yourself.

"But wait, theres more!"

I just saw the ad and it was dumb. Not that I worried people thought it was serious or real or whatever, it was just dumb. Not funny, not interesting, not informative. I do appreciate a good commercial now and then. Here's one of my favorites:

The big problem with this commercial is that it isn't really funny or entertaining, just lame.
Also it is a rip off of this classic piece, which is very well done, gives a real sense of speed and danger - all in all a great video.

Ads like these are like politicians - you will be up the creek if you believe any of them, but both can make you laugh..

Cheers

Oh yes, trucks landing airplanes, trucks going through fire, trucks bursting through snowbanks, trucks making you a mocha latte while driving to the top of Mt. Rainier, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.
The only harm is that some idiots believe they can do anything with these vehicles, despite the disclaimers. Unfortunately, a lot of these idiots wind up in my neighbor's front yard after a snow or freezing rain condition. 4-wheel drive and anti-lock brakes do not counteract the laws of physics. I am glad I am on the upper side of the hill.

Can one of these "Super trucks" run over the Geico Caveman? I'd really appreciate that. I would watch that...a lot.

405 - The Movie wasn't really a 'classic piece'

It was a blatant rip-off from 1984's Buckaroo Bonzai

I see the similarity but I wouldn't call it a rip off. Besides it is much better done than the BB video.
