Old John Deeres were all green. That way you could hide them in the corn!! Farmall's were Fokker red, and Allis Chalmers were burnt orange. Old Fords were gray and blue. Enough History.
How about a write in campaign foir the 1/3 scale SE5a????????????

Their "target' consumer is not the scale master bunch. Considering their success in today's "ARF" market I think their doing just fine. I'm glad to have them around being that most kit manufacturers have gone away over the past few years.

You are right. The "scale master bunch" is a handful of people, not enough to keep a company going. Let's not forget that GT has a "day job" for a reason:-) I think they fill a "niche" and that they have a customer base big enough to allow not only them to exist, but also to come out with new kits frequently. Go BUSA!

Don't get me wrong I love a true scale project and have a lot of respect for those who build them true to scale. I've built the Proctor N-28 beautiful aircraft too pretty to cover. I've never done a GT kit but have heard great things about them also. I might down the road but a Balsa USA SE5 will probably be my next build. In my case it's a matter of economics and bang for my buck right now.

Abu,
I could care less if the plane is a mm off scale. I fly in Dawn Patrols and do not compete and have no desire to compete in scale competition. The planes have to be FLYABLE first. Then reliable and durable. It's common to put in 10-15 flights a day at our patrols. You can't do that with eye candy. But, having said that. several of our flyers are , National. Scale Masters, and Top Gun participants and winners who fly the crap out of their competition birds, of which a lot are BUSA airplanes. I have built 14 Busa airplanes since I started the HDP 8 years ago. I have 3 more on the bench right now. Their product is as scale as you want to make it. Add ons, remember! It's funny that BUSA planes are competitive in competition with just a little extra work, yet they are continually dissed for their scale inaccuracies. Sorry, but most can't tell. Heck, we have even found a way around the airfoil thing. It's all an illusion.
GTM and Proctor are great kits, I have each, but I don't really enjoy spending hours building a seat. I'm in it for the flying, and that's what I get from the BUSA product.
Now, off the soap box.
I have another idea. SE5A lovers, lets occupy BUSA. Down with the oppulent Fokker Scurge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark, Dave, Bill.............here we come[>:]

Healthy competition is a good thing. Brings competitive pricing and innovative ideas. The way I see it both companies offer great products but target different modelers. It's all good there's plenty of room for both.

Gee Dave, in those days threshing was done by hand, after the 5 mile walk to school, in the snow, up hill both ways.
AND, it was only 60 years ago, I've had a hard life.

Yikes! Maybe they should call it "monstrous scale" instead. I wonder if the girl is included.

Abu..... I still don't need glasses....it's just a myth
Dave.... Nope, haven't seen them and probably won't (unless they release a 1/3 scale you know what)
And for all you DR-1 fans, I just received this video link. Those things must be a handful to fly. They are bouncing all over the place and watch the rudder work both in flight and on the landings.

Easy Tiger?!!! That sounds like something my wife would say to me! (in my younger days, of course)
That DR1 looks like a kid's ride!
