I used this site for the( http://www.vinylforrc.com/ ) graphics on my 1/4 scale BUSA Fokker D VII. I sent a picture of what I wanted and I also called and spoke with him. Very nice guy, he is a RC builder & flyer. He designed the skull & raven, also, I got the crosses. Super job, very easy to apply, and the prices were reasonable.
Hope this helps

No need to be running all over the globe for simple lettering. Any local sign shop which has a vinyl cutter - and just about everyone has at least one if not more - can easily cut those simple letters and numbers in a jiffy.
We do that sort of thing all the time, And no, it's not worth it for you to call me since I'm in Canada.

Hey, I like Canada. I spent 6 months in Cold Lake, Alberta. Great people, good beer! For me to go into a vinyl cutting shop, I would have to have the lettering all written/drawn out, and know the size of each letter and number. I can figure all that out, but thought that if one of the graphics shops had already done it a few times, it would be quick and painless.

SO I said to myself, How hard can it be to paint a few stripes on the DRI? All I have to do is like the full size painters did. Load up a brush and paint it onto the area until it stops painting. Load it up again and continue.
First attempt looks way to heavy. Perhaps its not that simple. Second attempt is better, but still heavy. Lets re-think this a bit. 3rd attempt is great! But to get the correct look ( in my eyes its the correct look) I used an unloaded brush over the entire area and then went over the heavy areas until it look OK. Wings next, and if all goes well it should be ready to fly by the weekend. Fingers crossed.

The sun was sort of out today. The wind was a cross wind, but not too strong. So we all walked down to the end of the runway to be able to take off and land into the wind. Here is the result. https://youtu.be/oEFUAJIj428
The KCS 62cc motor ran perfect. Not at all loud and almost zero vibration. The entire flight was made at 1/2 throttle or less. On landing I ran out of elevator. But I adjusted that and the second flight was even better. This is one sweetheart of an airplane. My smile is still plastered all over my face.

Here'a thought ...... more diameter and less pitch on your prop. I am flying mine with a GT 80 and a 28x6 Xoar scale prop..... and it still flies too fast. This is a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcEQ0K-8aIc which was shot this Memorial Day weekend at the IOK Dawn Patrol (Cincinnati area).
Cheers,

Art, nice flight. What would be the benefits of the 26 x 8 ? If the 24 x 10 is more than enough prop how would a longer/less pitch prop help? I ask that question not to sound mean, but to learn. More air flow over the tail because of the longer blade? better spool up from the lower pitch? Cost is about the same, and a longer prop would look better on the front of this FAT bird. Again, just trying to learn something. Thanks

Because of the larger diameter there is also a corresponding larger column of air flowing over the model. More air flow over the tail keeps it more lively. When you are on the ragged edge of slow flight vs stall flight, this bigger prop disc provides instantaneous response and stability in flight. It is hard to describe but very noticeable to the pilot.
I first experienced this phenomenon at the Mint Julep Scale Classic several years ago. I was flying my 1/3 scale Nieuport 11 with a G62 and a 26 x 8. During a practice flight Dave Johnson commented that I needed to slow down, that I was flying too fast. Throttle management is difficult when the airplane has way too much power anyway. He gave me an old PK Scimitar 28 x 6 and said to give it a try. Well this prop was actually too much of a load for my old G62, but immediately on take off I noticed a HUGE difference in how the model presented itself in the air. Slow, steady - almost stately! What a difference that prop made.
Aerobatic models like a Pitts or heavy metal warbirds need speed to present well - but not our WW1 birds!
Its just my opinion and sometimes it doesn't work very well. For instance on my old 1/3 Pup (35lbs and a G62) a 24 x 10 had been the prop of choice. I tried the larger diameter, smaller pitch and the Pup just sat there.......if flew, but not well. I went back to the 24 x 10 which ended up being the best combination for this engine/air frame. It isn't always better, but when it is, it seems to be a LOT better.
Experiment with prop sizes. Add the diameter and pitch 22+12=34. 24+10=34. 26+8=34. 28+6=34. A G62 will turn all of these prop sizes. The load on the engine is about the same, increasing slightly as the prop gets larger. It is up to us to determine which size fits out chosen air frame.

So after a bad cross wind landing, the prop was broke, landing gear twisted, gear blocks torn out and bottom wing broke. The repairs are done and it gave me a chance to see what a bigger prop would look like. This is the Xoar 28 x 6 prop. It looks really nice. Now to see how it flies. Going to Lake Mills Iowa on Sunday, so its has be ready.

I went to a new warbirds gathering in Wisconsin on Saturday, as it looked like the Lake Mills gathering was due to be rained out. The new Xoar prop was a great success. Four flights and no major problems at all. One goofy looking take off, but that was not the planes fault. Warbirds over Iowa is coming, lets get them all together for an old fashioned Jasta photo op! I was fearful of the IFlytailies guns breaking during repeated flights. But they are still rock solid. And look darn good too!

The 24 x 10 prop flew the plane at a scale speed at 1/3 throttle. With the 28 x 6 it was almost (but not quite) 1/2 throttle for the same speed. The 6 pitch prop took a bit longer to get up to speed after a maneuver. But with the 28 x 6 the landings are much better, the plane slows down at a very nice steady rate. And I have control of the tail surfaces longer before they quit working. Also with the 24 x 10 prop there was a lot of Dutch roll at anything over 1/2 throttle. I flew at 2/3 throttle with the 28 x 6 and saw no tail shake at all even though the air speed was the same. I think either prop would be fine if its all you had, but I really believe that the longer reach of the 28 x 6 prop helps this aircraft. Just my 2 cents worth.
