NEW BUSA 1/3rd Scale Fokker Triplane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a big covering job... Best done in stages ! Have you picked a scheme for the paint? Some people know what it will be at the start..some of us figure it out near the end.. Nice looking build though...
I am guilty of only making one flight with mine since I finished it last year.. needed to change props, re balance etc. Test flew on a dead calm day and landed a bit hot..rolled a tire off the wheel and nosed over.... but nothing broke thank goodness ! Flew like an absolute dream .. perfection.

Xradarusa , nice looking build. Has any progress been made since the last post? I would only change one thing. That paint stir stick of a prop. I know, I know, each to their own. But its just that I think your hard (and beautiful) work needs a Xoar WWI Axial prop. Again, its just my opinion, and like buttholes, everybody has one. Again, nice work.

As to my rebuild from the season ending cartwheel. I repaired all the damage, and built a new rudder. Got it covered and all painted. Began working on a new sign for our flying field when Snoopy spotted the Triplane and attacked! The sign fell over and landed.....yep....right on the tail end of the Triplane. Smashed it flat. I hate that dog! So I rebuilt the tail section again, this time a complete rebuild. New rudder ( again) new elevators, new everything. Covered and repainted. The sign was put into another room for the rebuild. Yippiee! All done. Clean up the work bench and watch an exacto knife roll off ( Can you see where this is headed?) the bench and punch straight thru the new Horizontal Stab. I could have cried. But I guess the full size planes had a patch or two on them. If I had a glass case big enough, I would put it over the DRI. I can't wait to get out to the flying field where its safe.

Almost done, cockpit and cowling to go. All covered in red and olive drab solartex, Fox 4.2, Bennett Smoke pump, looks great I think. Will post pics during engine break in if it ever stops raining. Remember, no paint.........stand-off scale, learned a long time ago not to paint in the winter up here as there is way too much water in the air and I didn't want to wait until summer.
JeffEE, was taking out the Flair Fokker DR1 and somehow bashed my tail also, probably in the doorway. So much for practicing with it and now I have another project to work on. I agree about the prop, BUSA has xoar 28x6 axial props for about $125, the power point props are garbage, out comes the wallet. It will be extra incentive to prevent nose overs.

I just had to have it! Iflytailies.com gave me (ok, I paid for it, he didn't really GIVE it to me) this airspeed indicator for my DRI. It took an afternoon of work to get it put together. And another hour to figure out how to mount it. But I think it turned out really nice. It is miles ahead of anything I could build. One more step in the "When is it done?" scale airplane building.

rudder size
Did you modify the rudder size at all ? Yours looks smaller. The stock rudder appears too large. Was wondering if you did modify it what dimensions you used.Im just starting to frame my 1/3rd scale up now. I have a bottom and middle wing done.
Thanks,
Rusty

My tail section is stock. Other than adding a scale cross section to the horizontal stab, the rudder and horizontal stabilizer are just as drawn on the plans. Which is to say, oversized. But I really like the way it flies, so I guess if I were building another one, and was not entering it into scale contests, I would leave it the same. I just have to be careful going thru doorways.
