We have move. The Hoosier Dawn Patrol has a new venue. We will be using the Henry County Wright Flyers field for 2016 and beyond. This is on the property of the Wilbur Wright Museum and the birthplace of Wilbur Wright. The link is in the first post above. Check it out.
With the new venue, there will be a few changes. First, we are not changing the format of the HDP. It will remain the laid back event that has defined the flying for Dawn Patrols. The field is great. The pit area is lined with trees, so you can set in the shade instead of the 100 degree sun. Better for the models as well.. There is plenty of ground for primitive camping, but sorry, no RV hook ups. There will be limited water and electric available. So plan to be self reliant. The plan is to have on field concessions. More later as we know more about that.. Hagerstown and New Castle are just a few miles away for supplies as you need them.. As you may have noticed, I changed the days to Thursday , Friday and Saturday. Leaving Sunday for travel. This seems the trend in all events. Sorry, no showers. We have overnight storage and security for the planes. The Museum does not allow alcohol on the property, so please observe this rule.
I know, I rambles a bit , I just typed as I thought of things.
If you have any questions, you can post them here, or email the names at the bottom of the flyer.
I'll be adding info as needed and as it becomes available, so check back often.

Steve,
What's the address as 1525 N. 750 E. Hagerstown, In. 47346 doesn't work in mapquest?
Elsewhere, it says it's on wilbor wright rd. It seems it is on wilbor wright road and not N. 750.
Please mapquest it first to insure the address you give is correct.
thanks,
Sam

Almost show time. If pregame interest is any indicator, this will be a very well attended event. Pilots are arriving Tuesday!!! All you have to do to have a good event is attach a celebrity name to the event....see ya all there...steve

It was windy, and while there was much time for hanger flying, still, there were many brave and skilled pilots taking to the air. From a photography point of view, if you weren't their for the dawn flights (before the wind picked up) you missed a lot (I missed a lot, not being able to drag my sorry butt up early enough). Thank you again to the Henry Co. Wright Fliers for hosting. It's a wonderful venue.
So with that, here are so photos from Thursday and Friday.
Eithe Jim Suchy's or Greg Hahn's giant Gotha GIVs.
Mike Wartman's 1/3 Pup
Jim Suchy's 1/3 Spad.
Paul Westrich's 1/3 Pup
Greg Hahn's 1/3 DVII

Steve Percifield's maiden flight of his 1/3 Fokker DVII (that's why the pilot stayed on the ground I was told). The plane flew and looked great!
John Romeo's (who came up from GA) 1/3 Pup.
John wasn't quite a fortunate on landing. No serious damage done.
Lee McDuffee's (Winterhawke) Pup poses with the moon.

Paul's Pup and Jim's Spad form up.
Paul Wiley's 1/3 Pup (his was in the title photo too).
Greg Hahn's 1/3 DVII showing of his hand painted Lozenge camouflage.
Mother Nature was somewhat cooperative at times.
Greg knows how to pose a plane.
Jim's Spad. Love the detail and colors.
Thanks for looking. Larger files (with a few other images) available on my HDP 2016 Photobucket Album
