Heath Baby Bullet
I just picked up the plans and the fiberglass hatch for this 1/3 scale racer by Scale Plans. Does anybody know where I can pick up a fiberglass cowl for this. It looks like it will be a great project.

John....The finish on the aluminum is done with a stiff wire brush in a dremmel tool.......it takes a little practice...lots of patience.....and if you are careful, it comes out very nice.... We have been scoring in the high 9s with a fef 10s for the finish...
the paint is like the original....aluminum (Merc) powder mixed in dope....
the 1/4 scale is powered by a saito and the 40% with a OS twin

It looks fabulous. What size OS did you use? Did you use aluminum press plates over balsa?? I would love any other shots that you might have / especially how you attached the flying wires to the wings and fuselage. I am thinking of using an OS120
in my 1/3 scale. I was told by another guy that built one that if I wasn't going to compete (and probably won't) to increase the tailfeathers 25% for a better flying airplane. Any comments?

John.....OS 120 will give you less than scale speed, but will fly it. We have a Gemini twin 160 and could use the 300. Increasing the tail will help on landins but not necessary for flight. I would increase the length of the ailerons about one bay, The bullet likes to go fast......the full scale flew at 128 MPH......at slow speed the ailerons are bit mushy and the tail is hard to keep honest....at speed...it is an amazing aerobatic plane.....

Plans for the full size Baby Bullet were published in the 1930 "Flying and Glider Manual". The model was scratch built by scaling the full size plans down to 40%.
