RE: GTM 1/2 Scale Fokker Triplane

    TK, HRRCflyer,

Yes it is a great, great, great place. The Museum owner is Mr Jerry Yagen.

The Military Aviation Museum is home to one of the largest private collections of World War One and World War Two era military aircraft in the world. Each has been beautifully restored to its prior military condition, using original parts whenever possible. Most of the planes are airworthy and are flown at the museum during flight demonstrations and at air shows throughout the year.

Anchor scheme: One of the 4 triplanes is painted to represent the one flown by Lt. Rudolf Klimke of Jasta 27. It is slightly different than your first post picture as rudder has the "N" number instead of the "Fokker'. Other little things too.

I'll be supportingat our WW-2 airshow but will take some good photos of the DR-1 for you. Will post next week.

I've been asked for a couple more sets of tail feathers for our Oklahoma boys building along with us. Have one set , working on the other. This will make five sets of tail feathers for the Driedecker projects.

TK, thanks for the Manhattan suggestion, it's been a long time since I had one but it wont be that long till the next. Not a real commonly ordered drink in San Miguel, but there is a trattoria there owned by an American and I think the bartender can make anything, he never batted an eye, just put it together and served in a frozen martini glass.

I haven't tried loading any for a while, lets see if this prints. If it does this is an EIII fuselage at 1/2 scale sitting on the wall units in my living room

I dont want to fill TKs thread with a bunch of drivel, so in the next few hours I will start a thread on it here and give a bit of background into the project.
TK I'm interested in the learning more about the drive reduction you and your friend are talking about. What the engine is its being desinged for the propellor you hope to turn (big I saw a mention of 52" somewhere) and possible availability. Great work on the tail parts, you're motoring right along.

The prototype for reduction unit is going to be for the Da 150/170 , hope to have it ready by late August.... Not going to go into details right now but it will be easy to configure it to other engines...

RE: GTM 1/2 Scale Fokker Triplane

This message goes out to all who are involved in this half scale build. If you want ball and cups for your Driedeckers you must let me know. You need 8 sets per plane. Or four just for the gear if your not going to do the interplane struts. I will have a price per set as soon as I talk with my machinist. The more I order the cheaper I'll get them for. If anyone else is interested, I also have them in 1/3rd scale, and I have the N strut cups too. At this time GTM is not going to carry these. I will be the only one selling them. But Glenn is looking into maybe getting these cast, for it would be much cheaper than turning out each set, which is very labor intensive.

I just came across this thread and WOW!!!
Are any of these future short kits still available? Are all ten spoken for yet?
A couple of us from Minnesota are planning for Dayton in 2014. See you then.
    Good luck Tom...

You have to get a hold of Glenn to get on the build list. Not sure how many are positive at this point. But it is close to 10.
Hope you get in on the build.
Also would like to mention, my 1/2 scale D-8 is for sale at 12,000. It can be seen on the build thread.

RE: GTM 1/2 Scale Fokker Triplane

    Well Gentlemen
We have 8 confirmed builders on the Triplane build for Dayton 2014.
This will fill Glenns avalibility for the short kit. Two other Fokker projects are being built but wish to remain private. So there are no more 1/2 scale Fokker cowls left. As soon as Glenn gets the parts from the metal cutter and the ribs and hinges done we will start on the build. Looking at September to start. All aspects of this build will be posted on this thread.
    Until then,
    Happy Flying
    Don't forget Rhinebeck !!!!

Glenn's metal cutter has slowed down the finishing of this build. Was hoping to have the oppurtunity to fly at Rhinebeck, this Sept. May make it without all the finishing touches.
