Default 1/4 scale cub servo

I am putting together a 1/4 scale cub and wondered if the Hitec Hs-485HB or should I go with the HS-645MG.

The plane used two for Ail, Elev and one for rudder.

of your 2 choices, the 645 is the much better one....

I use 1/4 servos on mine as the contol surfaces are pretty large, and some of them - like the rudder- get a lot of use during a flight. I had a very lightly built Sig 1/4 that was able to get away with standard sport servos, but they did not have enought punch to provide complete control in gusty turbulent weather......

Have a friend with the Hangar 9 on floats uses JR527 standard servos with no problems at all.

did you have a 2 1/4 scale on each surface? Just wondering as I am putting two on ail. and elev. . I do agree with you on the rudder, I fly with the rudder a lot.

I just have not done anything with 1/4 scale and want to do it right, I have the 645's on hand and would like to use them if possable.

The 645's are more than enough for your Cub. I am using them on a 1/3 Cub and they perform well. I am using 2 for the elevators and one for the rudder and one on each aileron.

Hi,

I was hoping for that, as I have enough to do the job. If I did not have two on the ail. and elev. , I would not do it.

I plan to give the rudder servo some mechanical advantage to help it out, I don't need full movement on the rudder.

This is not a hot plane , that's going be wrung out.

thanks

The 645MG will have more then torque for the 1/4 Cub rudder. I am using full deflection on my 1/3 Cub without any issues. I do fly in a scale manner and just do basic aerobatics occasionally. I am running 6 volts on the receiver.
Here are a couple pics showing the Cub and the elevator and rudder linkages.
Later!!

nice looking , mine is used and needing some tough up. Hope to get it back in shape and looking good.

I have a 160 OS surpass twin cyl to put in it. I was going to put it in another plane, but when the cub came up, I decided to switch planes .

I picked up a set of floats for it at a swap meet and plan to fly it off water.

did you have a 2 1/4 scale on each surface?
..not necessary...one for each surface is more than enough. There is lots of room inside the wing for the bigger servos. I use my cub for a glider tug so went up in weight (22 lbs), power(G-38), and servo size(1/4 scale)..

I use the 645's on a 96" Cessna Aerobat, and they are just fine for that type of flying....
