Thanks for those wonderful pics!

The weather was less of a factor than we had expected, only Sat afternoon was effected. No damage to anything from the high winds Sat night, we tucked planes away in the hangers and removed the tent covers and came back Sunday AM to just about the best weather possible. I think we got bypassed from any severe stuff.

I would have liked just a little more wind down the runway on Sunday as my DR1 flies better in a light headwind but hard to complain about less wind.

Pilot turnout was a bit below average but tough to know as some folks came for Wednesday to Sat afternoon and then packed up and left while others showed up for Sunday. The quailty of the models was outstanding and seeing the new BUSA planes fly was excellent, plus a few new Glenn Torrance Models planes showed up. I have a BUSA 1/3 DVA in my build list, just awaiting the kit release!

Thanks to all that made the trip, including Doc Geezer who drove 1730 miles in 26 hours from Houston TX to fly his 1/3 BUSA N28.  What dedication!

Whit

See you all for the 47th edition next year

Dispite the lose of my Pup, I had a blast! It was a tough one though, Hangeover on fri. from the crash on thursday, snaped a control horn doing a spin on my rebuilt 34 year old cub on Sunday. That went in from 120 feet up or so thru the oak trees behind the flag on the hill. Thought for sure it was a total lose as was the pup. But to my amazement she was on here nose wedged in between huge trees with very, very minimal damage. One nights work and she'll be air worthy. Then to top it off with some good luck I take first place with my Ryan YPT-16 that I test flew on Fri. and flew again Sunday. Thinking the bad luck was over I picked up a huge bolt in my front tire on the way home to Ma and for some reason my cub wings got lose from the rack in the trailer and fell onto my D-6 struts punching a hole in the wings that didn't get a scratch in the spin crash!!!!! Man can a guy get a break?
But all and all, Rhinebeck to me is the most rewarding weekend I have all summer, and I wouldn't miss it for nothing. Good friends, great people, and very exciting.........At Times???

Tom,

We were glad to have you as always and sorry for the tough breaks, maybe you need to finish that DVIII up and bring it, stop bringing these older planes? That reasoning is silly but I want to see your gorgeous DVIII fly so....

Thanks again for coming and I really hope to see you next year!

PS, met with Warren the CD today and found out we had 106 modelers register over the three days, not bad in a hurricane

I was actually packed, charged and ready to make the drive, but the weather forcast was just too unfavorable. 7+ hrs drive, $150+ in gas, and $230 per night hotel just would'nt let me justify making the trip. I was totally bummed over the weekend. Hope to make it next year.
I just stayed home and triddled my thumbs all weekend.[&o]
Your tires (and your plane) look GREAT, where did you get them?

Yep, I was too. But ..it happens and I spent time working on the shop and cleaning up an throwing out junk. I love throwing out junkThey call me the chucker at home, if I have to move it more than 3 times in a year I chuck it. I made a new area for setting up my drill press and scroll say and my new 4" Dremmel table saw. I have a new in box Dynaflite Pt-19 to build and a P-47 to finish this winter. Mustang51 are you going to go to the event at the Golden Age air museum in Bethel? A real nice event and almost as good as Rhinebeck. 9/29-9/30

Here's the link for the museum. Go to the event tab and you can pull up the flyer for the rc event. This is a cool place, and is about 45 min west of Allentown,Pa off I-78 They built a Folker triplane and a Pup in the last couple of years. http://www.goldenageair.org/index.htm

Great photos! I especially liked the all silver Cessna 140. What a beautiful model!! Don't bust my bubble and tell me it's done with monocote. That plane brings me back to the 50's when I was working as a mechanic at Amherst Airport, north of Buffalo NY. Best days of my life. Couldn't drive a car yet but flew all over western NY.

No monocote on the Cessna, it was all metal! It was also 100% scale.

It was a hoot, a long distance hoot but a hoot. Thanks to the Mid Hudson crew they did an outstanding job of field prep and management.

Thanks for that Doc, we do it for the love of the people and the place, 46 years going, not a bad record.

I'd like to give three cheers for the Aerodrome staff. They are in a tough business in a tough economy and they are out there every weekend they can volunteers for the vast part and trying to keep a dream alive. They have had a hard time of it due to the weather last year and this, wouldn't hurt to hit their website and join as a sponsor at whatever level, or get a gizmo, book or bit of clothing from their store. I've got twin 19 month olds I'd like to have a chance to see the show someday.

It was no model, it was a full scale plane that arrived with the Tiger Moth and what I believe was a Skywalker. That aluminum was polished so immaculately, it was just beautiful to see.

I'll add my thanks as well. Despite the weather on Saturday, it was a great event on Sunday, (and I heard that Friday was good too). MHRCS did an excellent job.

That Cessna 140 has to be the best out there. Here's some shots of it rolling out on landing from a couple years ago. Also that was a Skywalker, I made it a point to ask the owner.
