No, I lost the oracle, I built kits in my teens , after i finished paying for the house i got back into rc, almost another ten, all but two are ARFs. I have a gs tf coursair on the table for four years now and likely the last one I build. But rebuilding the pitts might not be out of the question.

I got one of those TF GS Corsairs as well. You maw have seen it in the background. Been almost four years on it. It's ready for glass but has been waiting for electric retracts for 1 and 1/2 yrs. Down and locked just emailed me two days ago to say they have some. Woo Hoo! And here I spent all my funds on this Pitts. Aint that the pitts. LOL Told them I will get them in January with the holidays and all. So hopefuly when done with this bird I can finish that bird.

LOL. The pitts, I think the pitts is well worth the wait. If you have robart retracts they now have electric and sell a a Conversion kit which is much less than down and locked. You can send them in or do them yourself.

Who has the conversion kit?
Never mind I went looking. I will get the conversion kit from Robart come January.
Thank's for the heads up!

You welcome, I'd like to go electric also since I don't have the air support kit for these retracts. I have to wait and see.
I could see your coursair in the back ground, I'm at about the same stage you are.

Ace, I was asking about the pitts gear, I was wondering if the rcguys pitts could take an upgrade on the landinggear.
You say your soldering the wires together as in copper plumbing pipe.?

As a past owner of an Andy Sheber Pitts, I can tell you the 55 cc engine will fly the plane, but it will be lacking in performance. I flew mine with a BME 100 twin and it was a perfect match. The all up weight was 24.5 lbs. Good luck with the build.

I know you guys can't tell from the photos but I have been doing everything I can to keep the weight down. For example the plans call for white pine for all the hardwood. I have substituted the pine for the aspen which is about half the weight. The reason I bring it up is because I have to add some now. In measuring the elevator for control horns I have realized I can not in good conscious put external horns. So I am going to make up a brass and pianno wire type control horn that will be internal.

How far are you going with scale detail ? i think it's fair to say if you can keep the AUW around the 20lb mark, the 55 will be fine. I would really like a twin for my own pitts !

JJ I'm going pretty scale but still shooting for around 20lbs. My Waco is at 18lbs with every scale detail except a full cockpit and it hit 18. I keep useing the Waco as a reference because it is so close to the Pitts in size and shape. I have watched several video's of Pitts running with Zenoah G38's, DLE 55's, and a G62. And they fly great so I am comfortable with my choice.

I'm done with the Fuse for now. Waiting for an order of flux and some other small items. So on to the wing's. Here is the templates ready to be cut. The center temp is the main ribs and need 28 of them. The ones on the left are the last rib and is also at the end of the ail so they will be made of ply. On the right we have the strut parts for the wing. Off to the band saw.

A little clarification on the rib temps. Only the main rib is a template. I will use it with the router table to cut the 28 balsa ribs. The others are actual parts no duplicating of those..
Warning: When I'm building I tend to post a lot in or of detail. Reason is I can't stand long so I come here to sit for a bit.

Thank you DGUY! You just be well over there.
Not much but the ply parts are cut. The main ribs might be a while. Gotta get the router set up. And right now all my boys are here. Most notable is my oldest, he is in the Army and will be here for a week. So I will be in and out and that makes things like the main ribs, 28, a little more difficult. We'll see.
