You have drawn blood now it's a build
I think I draw blood on every build I do. Just part of it I guess. I buried a #11 blade to the handle in the palm of my hand once, that stung a bit.

I really like Robart Hinges. They are a PITA to get out on a rebuild though[:@]
Later!!

It's a pretty wicked saw for sure Ken.
Thank's Billy but I think I'm with Anthony on this one.
I"m going to use the 1/8" Robart hinge point. Also going to give the pockets a whirl unless someone knows better and speaks up.
And your right Anthony, it's not a build until there's some blood drawn.

Nothing missing but some pride, and a little blood.
I have built the front of the center cabane. Now for the hard part, the rear piece. Sometimes getting two pieces identical is the hard part.

John the plans say see AA, as circled in blue, but the detail section for AA is nothing of that point. With the standoff's that are on the cabane plan, circled in red, I would believe there is suppose to be blocks attached to the ply area, black squares in the yellow circle, for and aft. I will do similar but with some adjustment.
The second pic is of section AA as noted with a yellow circle. It has nothing to do with the cabane mount.

I see what you mean. i thought maybe there was piano wire through the brass tube anchored to the fusalage sides.

Is thefront center cabane made from thestreamlined tubing you made in post 385? It looks like brass tubing in the pics.
Is there anything internal to it?
How are the piece joined?

I'm gonna go with the block's, made of ply. But instead of having the side mount piece brazed on I just flattened the end. For a more direct, in line, mount. I will wait until I can set the top wing in place to attatch the cabane block's. I think this would be most accurate and easiest.

Ken they are one piece wrap around. Yes they are the brass tubing from the previous post. The round piece for the bolt to go thru will be brazed in when the rest is mocked up.

The plans call for these to be made out of 3/8 aluminum tubing with no inner support. So I figure brass is a whole lot stronger and should hold up well especially with the mount offset change. Of course I have been known to be wrong before. If you guy's think that might be to weak I could put in a cross brace (see black line in pic) just below the fuse surface.

Thanks acerc
I can see them better in your last post. Thanks
Is there any compressive load at the center? I am sure they are way more than strong enough in tension.
That was not meant to question what you are doing. Just curious.

Well, I have to reference post #376 at the top of page 16.  I have to blame Robert for this one.  Have you guessed yet?

I was cutting my Solartex for the top of my Cub wing when the Xacto knife jumped the straight edge and was stopped by my thumb.  Left thumb at that!  Dang it Robert!  If you hadn't said anything...... [:@]  Not bad though, Band-Aid took care of it, no CA needed, no stitches.  Whew!

Hmmm... 20... 13...  Maybe this isn't my lucky year!

Take care,
David
