The top wing is ready for the sanding to be finished. I'm leaving the areas the cabane mount's are at open untill finished with the struts and cabane. That way I can shim the mount's if need be for perfect incidence.
Looking really good Robert. Whats your plan about the square hole between the back of the rear cabane mounting and the semi-circle trailing edge, is it just a matter of trimming back the top and bottom sheeting ?

I don't quite follow. If your talking about this one, it will get sheeted after finishing with the cabane and strut mounts. I might need to shim the mounts so I will need the access.

I'm not sure if they still do this today but there used to be a hand hold in the top wing in the area shown in the pic., but it wouldn't look this way.

Yes there is a hand hold, closer to the T/E and much smaller. I just have not cut it out yet.

Robert,
The more I look at your build the more I want to start building one, it may move to next in line on my build list. Have you compiled a materials list of what wood, wire etc: it has taken you to get to this point? If not will you?
Later!!
Anthony

Anthony, I can if you like but I also must tell you if I had it to do over I think I would have ordered the Tony Clark kit. It is a complete kit, everything for the build, cabanes, fitting's, welded gear wire, all scale. But I did not know of him untill I ordered most everything for this one. I am still considering getting one anyway. It is a copy of these Andy Sheber plans.

Yeah, i was pretty sure i had noticed in a previous post a few pages back the two small ribs that form the sides of the hand hold. I remember the trouble i had trying to do the covering in that aera and still keep it neat. A friend of mine has a 12v covering iron the size of your thumb that helps.

I cant believe the speed your going through this Robert, it's barely a month since you started and you have more or less built the bulk of the 'superstructure'......incredable !!!!

John josey,
I hope I did steer the topic away from your question here. I'd like to hear more about the hole in the wing, could it be an adjustable caban mount?

Here is a good shot of the handhold on the upper wing.
And as soon as it warms up a little I'll get outside and finish up the sanding.

I need to make the aileron control horn's and would like to use a piece of laminated carbon fiber an 1/8" thick. All I need is a piece 1"x10"x1/8". Anyone know where I can find such, or something compareable?

Never mind I found a sheet.
I knew as soon as I asked that would happen.

Thank's my friend, but that gear is too thick for my application. When you gonna start a Pitts? You know you want one!

How can such small wings have so much sanding to do. And this is just the rough in for placement, not the final. But almost there.

No not at all, the answer you gave was correct, i just didnt know for sure what the correct name for it was.

I take it toget in and out ofthe full size, a set of stepladders has to be used ? I'm hoping when i go to photograph the full size the owner will let me sit in it, maybe even get my picture taken.

Well, I was really pushin to get this sanding done but the rain just isn't cooperating. Bad thing is radar does not show hardly any but there has been a light mist most of the day.

Anthony, The TC kits are great, if you enjoy building then these are superb, but a considerable amount of work. I have spoken to a few guy's about themon RCU who have all said the same - fantastic attention to detail.

I'm seriously thinking of building another and going 100% scale the same as robert is doing in this thread. I've never owned a twin and would love to builld a second pitts for a twin, probably the zenoah 80.

I'm sure your pitts will be stunning no matter which one you go for Anthony.
