1/5ish scale Red Baron RB-51
#26
I am still owrking on it. I had a lot of work to do to the wing. One panel was sheeted with contest grade balsa and the other looked like it was sheeted with Cedar planks. I spent a lot of time with a 2 foot long T- bar filling and blocking the wing panel to get it smooth. I have finish filled and sanded the fuse as well and am fixing to start covering the fuse and wing.

Rickster,
I usually don't frequent the RCU web site but I just happened to stumble across your RB 51 build, I love it. That plane has been on my "to do" list ever since I was a kid, I have collected everything I could find on the plane over the years.
Are you going to do it in Monokote, or glass it and paint it? Either way your build is looking great,

My Feedback: (6)
Seems like since wind turbines got so popular the quality of balsa we see has gone to Hades in a hand basket. I was surprised to hear they are full of balsa I would think there would be a cheaper solution but I guess not. The same great characteristics that make balsa the choice for model planes makes it ideal for turbine blades.
