If memory serves me, the Bridi 232 kits had fiberglass fuselages and were actually 231EX. The difference is a shorter cord and big wing fillets on the 231.

Yeah, and OLD 231EX kit. I told you it was from the dark ages - before the fiberglass fuselages...

One of my flying buddies and I bought them in the early 1990's.

Hey Robert, It was great meeting you today! Thanks again for the awesome deal! Your build skills are light years ahead of mine, this plane is built great! Far better than what I could do. I'm learning things just by looking at how you did things. Wow!

Thanks!

It was a pleasure to meet you as well. Take your time and do it up right. And as for build skill's, well, that's kinda like "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

The Eagle head came today from Callie graphics, I am very disappointed. I though they would at least be close after being told she could match them almost identically. The look very cartoonish and no where near the same on coloration.

Well that stinks. I've always heard such good about her stuff. You'll get it how you want it.

I may be being petty, but this rendition is no where a copy of the Eagle in the pics I sent her. And I explicitly asked prior how close could she get, and was told pretty much exactly as seen in the pics. I don't think so. Pic 4 is there for comparison, it is one of the two pics I sent her.

Callie and myself are currently in negotiations as to whether she can do it again right/ or closer to right. She has offered a refund but I would rather have the Graphic. I would take no issue with it at all if it were not for the fact that I specifically asked before ordering.

It just does not look right Robert, way off in all details. But if I was to try it you would likely laugh yourself into E.R. SmileySmileySmiley

Robert

So sorry for your disappointment.
The original looks like it was the love of the image coming from that artists mind transferred perfectly to the skin of the fuse.

The second looks like a rendition of the original, not bad, actually good but not spectacular like the original.
Probably the only way to get the vibrancy of the original is to find an artist as gifted as the first with a love of that image the original creator had or has.

Someone suggested a motorcycle shop. That might be were you would find someone with the talent and love for that image.

If it was me.
I would take a hold (if she will give it) on Callie's offer for refund and hit the motorcycle shops and ask who in towns stuff is most sot after.
There you will find the talent and love of craft. Probably a healthy price too !
But you never know

Hey Robert, Not trying to be a smarty pants or anything, but I'm sticking
with what I said in post # 12. The caliber of build that you have put on here
deserves it. I'm just guessing that it would be less than 100 bucks.

HAH!!! I did murials 20+ years ago. You would be surprised what little 100 bucks will get you in custom work. But it will be worth it. I also received the price for the bust today, $524 shipped.

First I will check with the custom bike shops, they are really good and deal with actual paint.

Robert, I know it's not what you were expecting but maybe the best that can be done with vinyl. I have delt with Callie and will continue to do so, I would just hate for people to judge her based on this. Maybe her next attempt will come out better but to be honest to duplicate airbrush art is probably going to require an artist with an airbrush. To me it looks like the software she is using lost a lot of resolution by enlargening the graphic you sent her. You may want to see if a larger file size is available that you can send. I do have to agree that putting that particular graphic on your airplane would not do justice.

Speed, I have used Callie and she is terrific. As I stated prior, my biggest disappointment was in that I asked her how close could she get and she stated pretty much exactly the same. I will continue to use her, her stuff is great and very fairly priced. She just misjudged her copying ability on this one. No harm no foul.
And this particular set of graphics is in the can, not even a consideration.

There is a limitation with the vinyl media and it looks like she hit it. Looks like paint will be the way to go.

I know I said, Callie said she would give a refund, but did not really expect it. I just received notice from PP of a full refund. I feel kinda bad because she still put forth the effort, if she just hadn't said "exactly". She is the best!!
Just picked up the tailwheel mount block and the brass to make the yolk with. But I have more appointments today, so, no worky until tomorrow.

Unfortunately this is too true. I went to a reasonably large fly in this last fall (~80 pilots) and left my trailer open. Somehow a $100+charger managed to get lost! I was thinking about putting a locking cabinet in the front end of the trailer when a buddy told me that something disappears from his trailer every single time he goes to an event. I think I will just suck it up and keep the trailer locked so my stuff does not wander.
