No need to explain about how long it's taking you Robert. I'm sure that I can speak for all of us following this thread that it has been a joy as well as informative following your progress on this build. It will be nice to see it in paint but I'm in no hurry for this journey to end...
Exactly, Robert.
This is a build thread, and an honest one. You post your successes, but also your failures.
I find this thread entertaining, but you are not obligated to entertain us. Keep doing exactly what you are doing. Finish your bird on your schedule.
We'll be here to watch.

The pinking tape has been started, the rib tapes have been attached to the top. I will give it 30 minutes to dry some then turn it over and finish them.

The tapes have been pulled around and cemented to the bottom. I will give it a half hour then trim the ends and shrink the fronts to form to the wing. Then I will apply the perimeter tape. I have placed another order for painting supplies and another yard of fabric. I have no fabric left for the top wing ailerons. But I can continue on with the Poly brush and Poly spray until that order gets here. There are a few small details I can work out in the mix of getting to the colors.

I am working on squaring off the center trailing edge, noticed it in a pic last night, and cutting out the hand hold. Then I can add the trailing edge pinking.

The hand grip has been cut out, glassed internally, glazed over and drying. Once this glassing cure's, or close enough to remove the covering (tape), I can finish up the perimeter tape.

I have started the painting in my head though, helps to think it through. There is one item I am seriously dreading and that is all the nuts, bolts, and screws. All but the four bolts holding the stabs on get painted, which means all those others have to be chucked in the drill and spun on some scotchbrite. Some would use self etching primer but it fills the indents to much, I use an airbrush with some metal primer. All that will probably take a day in itself.

Wow, this plane is going to be awesome Robert! I see a clipped wing cub under the bench. Next build? I had that same kit some years ago and sold it, never did get around to building it. Can't wait to see your Pitts in its colors!

For me when I build, this is the time that I have to be careful. It's a time that I want the build to get finished and I have to force myself to slow down and keep the quality of the build up. I have admired how Robert's quality of build has maintained itself through the rough patches that he has had. Good luck my friend and enjoy the last leg of this journey...

Agreed VJ. That's one thing I admire about ace. When he decides he wants something a certain way, he doesn't stop till he has it the way he wants it. Robert, sorry to talk about you like your not even here.lol.
